New monitor

So i'm currently using some random Asus 21 inch 1920 x 1080 monitor that i had and would like a new monitor.

I'm not entirely sure on what to get. Can someone recommend me something?

I have about £300 to spend and am looking for something no bigger than 24 inches.

So far i've been looking at some of the Dell offerings. Specifically Dell ultrasharp U2415 24 inch 1920 x 1200 for ~£250 from amazon. Is this a good monitor/worth buying ?

Get something with a strobing 120Hz backlight. This eliminates all motion blur, seriously enhancing your games and will bring out the best from your GTX 970. BenQ do them, among others. G-Sync and adaptive sync in general are worth looking into as well.

Check out www.blurbusters.com for lots of detailed information about this type of monitor. Don't go for anything less, it's not worth the saving in money.

I personally wouldn't get another 1080p display unless you're going to run multiple monitors. Otherwise I would focus on a 1440p display instead which has the added complication of your GPU not being powerful enough to play all games at 1440p. I don't see a whole lot of motivation for a side-grade.

If ultrawide is your thing LG has a 25inch 2560 x 1080 IPS monitor.

The Dell ultrasharp U2415 24 inch is a fine monitor. So unless you up your budget to say the ASUS PB278Q

I got myself Dell P2414H ... very similar model with less IPS glow but it's 16:9 not 16:10

Depends were ya go, you have a 970 (like myself) which can rock up to 2560x1440 just fine. Personally my BenQ is 144hz Gsync, and although its still 1080p its butter smooth amazing 1080p. I can play games well beyond 60FPS at 1080p with a 970, buts that's the point to Gsync. Otherwise everyone else has said get a 21:9 (2560x1080) monitor, or a QHD monitor. The cheapest would most likely be the option of a Ultra-wide, with some QHD panels coming in at $800+

Thank you all for the input. Changes in circumstance means i wont be getting the monitor right now.

So i think ill just continue saving and when can, ill grab a 1440p Monitor down the line.
