Hi Gang:toast:
I have a question for you. I bought a new motherboard off a store on ebay and
while the motherboard etc... looks new the serial number states it was manufactured
a year ago. Is it possible it has been on a shelf that long?
Thank you:)

Yeah, it is very possible that stuff could sit on the shelf for a while before it gets sold. Obviously this isn't the case when something new gets released but with older stuff that has been out that long, yeah, definitely possible.

while i have you guys here may i ask your opinion?
i have the opportunity to buy an ASUS P8Z68 PRO GEN 3 motherboard from microcenter for $60 after taxes. do you think it is comparable to the ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION enough to warrant getting it as a replacement and perhaps make some $ off of the WS REV?
THX
PS
didnt want to open another thread for a simple quesrtion

I would get it. Supports PCI-E 3.0, has USB 3.0 ports, and also supports SLI/Crossfire on the same board.

All wins in my book.

The board he has already has all those features aswell and seems to be a very high quality board, its a server grade board though so im not sure how well it overclocks.

Jack1n overclocks very well. really like the ws revolution just thinking if the p8z68 pro will work just as well and perhaps i can put $100 made from a sale towards something else

Yeah, I see that now...

Well, here's the thing, it depends on what you're looking for now; the P8P67 WS Revolution is a high end board based on a 3 generation old chipset. If you can give up the tri-SLI support and extra lanes available to your PCI-E 3.0 slots, then the Z68 is a better chipset overall. If the money comes out to be a wash, I would upgrade. If you're paying any out of pocket then you may be better off just sitting on what you have now.
