According to Hardforums: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1058342 there's a switch to the classic control panel. ATI please learn your lesson and make this available in the next Catalyst driver, because the present Catalyst Control Center is driving me crazy!! and there's neither a normal version nor a switch to the classic interface.

If you don't like the ATI CCC, why not use modded drivers? I used only the Omega Drivers with my 9800 card, and while they may not always be the most up-to-date, the speed enhancements, extra options and (of course) simple control panel (IMO) more than make up for this.
