Information from HKEPC says that NVIDIA has given a small order of GPUs to Chartered Semiconductor in Singapore. While TSMC keeps manufacturing most of the NVIDIA products, GeForce 7100GS is the first model manufactured by Chartered Semiconductor. TSMC is the main manufacturer for NVIDIA GPU products, while UMC is mainly manufacturing GoForce products for the mobile platform. NVIDIA plans to give a 10% of GPU manufacturing to UMC and Chartered Semiconductor, to gain its bargaining power from TSMC and stabilize its supply. GeForce 7100GS, which was launched on 31st August 2006 has two versions A2 and B2. The A2 version, model name GF-7100GS-N-A2 is manufactured by TSMC in Fab12 and Fab14 with 110nm process. The B2 version, model name GF 7100GS-N-B2 is manufactured by Chartered Semiconductor in Fab6 and Fab7 also with 110nm process. While Chartered Semiconductor is also manufacturing AMD processors, and is expected to manufacture ATI products as well after the acquisition, this will be its last time to co-operate with NVIDIA.
