New pc issue

I recently got a new pc and whenever i turn my pc off or put it to sleep i keep hearing this sound and i think it comes from my PSU. And i wanted to ask if i can do anything about it or if its dangerous.

The audio isn't clear enough to make an accurate assessment. Unplug it, do you hear the sound? likely some slight electrical draw even when you power it off, it could be a usb device or monitor, speakers etc basically narrow it down and isolate the culprit or like I said just unplug it if you're shutting it down as it doesn't matter whether you unplug it or not.

I tried unplugging the PSU and the sound was still there

Tried unplugging the computer and speakers/monitor from the mains?

Yes i just tried that but that didnt do anything. I tried unplugging the psu again and it slowly got louder and then it just stopped.

Try a different outlet? I have a similar thing happen to me when using my Android box in the same outlets as my TV and router etc but is fine when I use it in my bedroom, a strange high pitched sound that almost goes through me it's that bad but isn't really audible if that makes sense? I haven't really figured out what the issue is though swapping out outlets and hdmi cables seem to have done the trick

Didn't do anything. noise is still there till i unplug my PSU.

Coil whine from the PSU? can you test another one at all? maybe start the RMA process if you have confirmed it to be from the PSU and completely unplugging it seems to solve your issue, or live with it and just unplug it whenever you turn it off, personally I'd RMA

My PSU does something very similar,like a very faint coil whine which happens as long as something is drawing power no matter how little,even a simple status led on my mobo does it.

I've bought a separate power socket switch 'has on/off button' where my PSU power cable is plugged in and I just power off the entire system when I go to the bed since I can hear that faint noise even there if its all quiet in my room 'I have sensitive ears'.

Kinda annoying but I can't be arsed to deal with the shop where I bought it from and warranty doesn't always cover this as far as I know/heard so I just live with it.

Sounds a bit strange for coil whine but 9/10 it is coil whine, and you really cant do anything about it other than to RMA it if you can or resell if it annoys you

Recorded again and yeah i think it's coil whine too and since it's new i'll just wait for a bit to go away if it doesnt ill just unplug when i'm not using it.

Definitly coil whine now that the audio is a bit better. You could just switch the PSU off when not using the pc, no need to unplug, the coil whine should stop after a bit

Can't say for sure but in my case the PSU is already ~1 year old and its all the same,doubt it will just go away on its own.

I enabled ErP in bios and that somehow fixed the problem

I'm Incline to say coil noise but, is this sound coming from the speakers? Or the PSU? Where are you taking the recording from?

Have you plugged directly into wall?

Powerstrips can cause problems.

Not to bad mouth the cooler Master PSU but yeah they have a tendency to make noise, Last one I had did this and I replaced it with a TX750 80+ gold.
Is it really loud? Does it do it when the system is off? on or only as it is shutting down?
It's not something that seems to kill the PSU just annoy the ears.

I fixed it by enabling ErP in the bios so it doesn't make sound anymore when its off but when i put it to sleep it sounds like a siren (first video) and i don't know why.

Yeah that is strange. Think it has something to do with the low voltage side. You shouldn't worry though unless it really bothers you.
