i want the SSD drive 1st, and the HDD for storage. i want to put some linux or ubuntu OP 1st on the M.2 drive Then windows 10. it would be 4th or 5th.
i'm putting an XFS file system for linux an the like, but last i heard windows was still NTFS. i just wanted to make sure i i could format different file systems with out a lot of problems. i guess i got one other question; i was going to make the 1st. OS 30mb.. should i allow more space for UEFI.
on my 2002 dell i have lubuntu, puppy, then windows XP. i'm just getting online, an may do some drawing, so i guess its a workstation.

You're correct about the formats, but this is advanced stuff so expect some problems
When you install your OSs only have one drive hooked up to the PC at the time of the install
Also do Not limit the OSs size to 30 mb. Not even 30 Gb. Allow way more space. Enough for some programs also. (but I want my programs separate) yea that's a whole separate conversation.

i intend to use a live USB with lubuntu. its lightweight. i havent got as far as having my programs separate exactly. i think i dont want to store temporary files on the SSD. i'll head over to the Ubuntu forum and see what they say about space. i used 30Mb on the HDD, but SSD is a different ballgame. lubuntu runs in ram mostly, but it does store programs.

from what i read so far i need 600MB efi format for boot loader, bios and other stuff. i can format XFS, except for Windows 10. there was a legacy grub for windows. the last operating system grub controls the boot, so i could go lubuntu, puppy, windows, then Debian. at least thats the plan so far.
Lubuntu calls for 25 MB, i'll go a little higher for that. i gotta check on the others. now to buy a really quite HDD 500MB.

i havnt seen the need to write, till tonight. [i'm discussing drives, some where else here.] HDD. i do have a problem, i need to talk about,
i live in a in a rural county. the electric blinks, or stops, all the time. some of the wires/transformers stuff i guess was from 1934. i still dont know if all that was replaced., then an occasional squirrel, will cross a transformer, instant/burned /toasted/charcoal., happens in the big citys too. cuts the power off, when the transformers are shorted out.
my old dell, 2002, has managed to keep working., but IDK if the new machine will handle it. so, i might need to talk some about power surges, and blackouts. the newer they get, the more they can do, but so fragile. //ed

just a picture., this is quite. 5 fans running, mostly i dont hear it. the ac i hear all the time anymore. i bought a Be-Quite, mid-tower. the price wernt that much. ATX form factor. most of the stuff i wrote, is garbled somewhat, dyslexia, strokes, an such, but the be-quite case, is one to consider, for desktop. I dont belong to any companys, just my opinion. :)

i hear many noises, just not the PC. now i have a good question. i have a SSD drive, that i want to format. so the system sees it as /dev/nvme0n1, so should i rename it to /dev/sdc/ or just leave, /dev/nvme0n1?, i havent been here yet, so it leaves a lot of questions for me. :kookoo:
