New Radeon RX 640 found in 19.4.3 Driver

Recently i was installing Windows on my 15 inch 2018 MacBook Pro with AMD Radeon Pro 560X Graphics. As always, the Drivers bundled with Bootcamp are pretty outdated. So i downloaded the newest drivers for the AMD Radeon 560X (yeah i know, different SKU, but drivers are usable however). At the time writing, the latest drivers are 19.4.3. While i was browsing the INF file in Windows Device Manager, i found something interessting. There is a, to my knowledge at least, unreleased Radeon RX640 listed in there. Could this be a new low end AMD GPU?

I don't see a point for low-end GPU. Perhaps mainstream competitor GPU vs. GTX 1660.

Actually you are right. Also if AMD is keeping their previous naming scheme, perhabs it is a new Mid-Range Mobile GPU.

Right-click on the package, and "extract". I have 7zip... Open inf files in notepad:

AMD_RX640.PNG
AMD_RX640_2.PNG

"%AMD6987.5%" = ati2mtag_Polaris12, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6987&SUBSYS_507A17AA&REV_C0

I bet it would be a rebrand for an OEM chip. Wouldn’t anything newer not follow this nomenclature but instead follow the Vega style of using the CU count?

Maybe it’s Polaris rebranded?

But why? The card isn't changing at all, can't they just keep selling it as a 560X? Rebrandeon is too true.

Why not? Their competitor does it as well.
They do it so that "normies" feels comfortable buying a "new" existing product.
Instead of worrying the existing product doesn't do what they want because it is not "next-gen".
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it is a good thing, just kind of the way it is on both sides.

Hello,

I've seen an article about this on Technoxmart. A lot of talks have been found on forums which indicated Radeon RX 630 and Radeon RX 640 seen in the most recent Radeon designs driver. I've just downloaded Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.4.3, btw. Could this imply that they want to serve the low end of the market? Not sure.
