Hi, I recently built a new computer with the Asus Rampage Extreme 6 motherboard, Core I9-10980XE CPU,32 Gigs Corsair Dominator Extreme 3600mhz DDR memory and the Asus LC X6900XT. It worked perfectly for 2 months and then if I try and type anything using the Roccat Suora FX keyboard, the keyboard wont display anything on monitor except random pages opening. I tried using a cheap plain keyboard thinking maybe my keyboard died but the same thing happens. I really need help in figuring this out since the Roccat keyboard works perfectly on an older computer I have. Could this issue be the motherboard died? Please anyone that may be able to help me, please contact me.

Try different USB ports if you havnt already.
Does the keyboard function properly in BIOS or safe mode? If so its a software thing.

Hi, Yes I have tried all my USB ports and the all do exactly the same thing, but as I said in my original post, and both of the keyboards I have work perfectly in my 8 year old build with no issues. I have built and repaired thousands of computers over the years and until now they have all worked perfectly with no issues at all. In over 30 years of doing computer work and building this is the very first time I have even had it occur to me or anyone else. I just do not happen to have another spare exact motherboard to try and even if I could still find another motherboard, they are not cheap at over $1000.00 Canadian. Do you know of any software that would allow me to load it into windows and test the mother board. When I try and type and search into google, I get various internet pages opening and the Run box always opens up as well, very strange and I have never seen this before. I will welcome any help or advice on this anytime.

Thats why I asked you to try it in another software environment on the same machine. If it functions as it should in BIOS, or in safe mode or heck your bootable linux flavor of choice. Then you know its a software related issue. Thats where you have to start.

Its possible there is a short on the motherboard or on the USB.

You can also try booting in safe mode with command prompt to see if the keyboard is working.

Also do a virus and malware scan just to be on the safe side. Try NPE if you dont have amything but windows defender.

Hi,
Best to try safe mode or just use a spare ssd and clean install windows.

Hi, If I am putting the computer into safe made properly, the same weird stuff happens. If I try and type anything into google, I get different internet screens Does anyone think that somehow a corrupted motherboard Bios would or could do this? I am also having troubles understanding what is being written on deleting the bios or erasing it. Could someone please explain the best way of clearing the motherboard bios, I have already tried 3 times all unsuccessfully to clear the bios so that I could load a fresh copy of the 1301 bios which I think is the most recent one. Could someone please tell me how the bios clear button works and does it properly erase the bios info. Again thank you to everyone trying to help because I am way out of my knowledge base with this build and the thought of having to buy another motherboard is not doing my already way to high blood pressure any good.

The best way to clear the CMOS is to pull the power plug or turn off the Power supply, then pull the cr2032 CMOS battery for 15-25 minutes. In my experience, this seems to work better than trying to bridge the jumpers, or using the Clear CMOS switch.

Your board should have the BIOS flashback feature. so you can use that to Flash the BIOS to a different version. I would be shocked to see a Rampage board that doesn't have this feature. The user manual that came the board should tell you how to use the BIOS Flashback feature. If you can't find the manual, then you should be able to download a PDF of the manual from Asus' website.

If you smash the 'DEL' (Delete) key when you boot the system, are you able to get into the BIOS.? If so, do the buttons work the way they should in the BIOS?

Did you buy the board new? I'm wondering if it still has the warranty. I've had to deal with Asus before, and it's always best to call them.... don't email Asus.

One, if you can get into BIOS and the keyboard allows you to navigate, it isnt the hardware.

Clearing the CMOS will not erase anything other than settings you have changed, it does not erase the BIOS. If you need to update, it is overwritten if you will with its own erase and apply methods.

To be blunt, I would almost bet disabling XMP will allow the keyboard to function, if you haven't toasted the OS yet.
