i updated from the 2.16 driver originally posted by ketxx and everything became quieter, as opposed to becoming louder and crisper when i first installed the 2.16 - wtf?

even fruity loops became quieter and i have the asio driver installed for it.

EDIT: it doesn't say realtek x-fi anymore in the winamp output menu, and there's no mentioning of x-fi in the driver file names

i'm sorry, i was being an idiot :eek:

- i haven't checked if it turned down volume in win volume control, it did. i definitely didn't expect that... :ohwell:

still, can't comment if the audio quality improved, at least not on my current speakers...
