I made a thread like this before but I can't find it, but Im looking for a extremely reliable Wireless Router for my apartment, and I am stuck in between a couple of choices:
Linksys

D-Link

Or Asus

I am willing to get a belkin one as well since I bought one for my family and its been doing well, but My budget is $50, something easy to set up fast, and wont drop my internet connection at random times like my P.O.S. linksys router does. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I'm wanting to buy one nowish, and if any of you need to know my connection speed is 20mbps

I would GLADLY take any suggestions on different routers

I wouldnt mind another linksys but I really hate those models, brother had one said he didnt like it, I've had the speedboost one for a very very long time and I just dont want to get something I'm sure will keep disconnecting me from my internet, only reason I suggested the newer modles for linksys is because I heard those were good

EDIT: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001D3K8A/?tag=tec06d-20 is what I have

You'll have to trust me, the newer linksys models are actually worse than the one I linked.

The WRT54GL is probably regarded as one of the best consumer routers avaiable. It used to be called the WRT54G, pre version 5, when they moved to version 5 they really fucked the router over, and all their routers since then have sucked. Demand was so great, that they actually brought back the original WRT54G, and called it the WRT54GL.

One of the great things is that it is Linux based, which is why 3rd party firmware works so well on it.

Don't be fooled, just because they look the same, doesn't mean they actually are, Linksys made a shit load of different routers all using the same case design.

I almost guarantee that the router you have, and the router your brother has, are both version 5 or later...those routers were complete shit.

Well...the only time I have to reset mine is...well never...

The current uptime on mine is 36 days, and it was something like 400+ days before that, but I had to move everything to the basement when I had my cable installed a month ago(I get 30Mb/10Mb).:toast:

Well since there isnt anyone else on here recommending something else besides the one you showed me, then I will get this, but I'll wait about 15 minutes or for other people to recommend something else other than this one thanks

3rd party firmware, I use Tomato but DD-WRT is good also, really makes this router the best. So looking into those while it is shipping to you might help. :)
