I need to know if installing a new router will be as easy as unplug and plugin or is there other factors involved.

Note: i am 14 and my older brother and i were tasked to install this new router by our dad.

If your just using the cables then yes.

most routers resolve to 192.168.1.1 and have the login info either a google search or with the manual.

just browse to that IP in your web browser (hard wired to the router) and setup the wireless to your liking

Each router is different. Go to the routers manufacturer support site. Look up the model number of the router and download the manuals. It will give you a idea of the setup/settings you'll have to go through.

Some come with Wifi disabled so you'll have to go through the setup to enable it and set it up. This has to be done using the computer that's connected to the router through a cable.

Its very easy to setup a router.

Just Google it and watch some you tube videos and you will be able to do it.

do i need a windows computer?

No, manuals should have directions for both MAC and WIN. Most will require you to be connected through cable for the setup.

Usually its as easy as typing in a IP number in a browser and the default login to the router. Have to read the manuals for that.

i dont get it... if you have the manual, read the manual

if you dont, go to the company's site & download the manual

you just plugin some cables like power & WAN, open the router settings in a web browser (yes, a web browser, on your phone, on your smart tv, on your laptop, on your ps3, wherever)

it's likely you'll need to be wired at first to input your settings, but the router may have a wireless network enabled for you already, again this is part of your manual or stickers on the router

+1 normally the router it's pre wireless configured, and sometimes there are some routers plug and play, you just need the password provided and you're done.

Remember if you replace the router turn of the modem and turn the modem back on 1st then the router, as if you don't what ever you try might just fail regardless of what setting are set on the router.
