New Steam chat issue, always asks me to "scroll to bottom" every single chat session...

Every new chat, and every chat currently in progress, as soon as I click a tab for another person to chat with them on Steam its from a really old convo, even if it was just a fresh convo less than a minute ago, it always makes me click "scroll to bottom" constantly.

Does anyone else have this issue, is it just me?

Windows 10 Pro with latest updates. all drivers are up to date. gtx 1070 laptop.

I knew I didn’t like it from the moment it first changed and a big box with recent friends I’ve had convos with appears over the top of Steam overlay and refuses to intuitively let me close or minimize it. Eventually I closed it but I don’t like it. Haven’t used it since.

I don’t use it because I hate multiplayer and my real friends are all in real life. Gaming is just where I go to immerse myself in a story, an adventure. I view it as a long immersive movie when I want to relax.

1). goto steam folder
2). left click steam.exe and sent to desktop
3). go to desktop
4). right click on the new shortcut and select Properties
5). add target -nochatui -nofriendsui

That's straight from a post on google. I've also found it helpful to add those options to the steam autolauncher which is somewhere in the registry (search for "steam.exe")

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Steam seems to overwrite that registry key occassionally...

I would upload a .reg file but people can have Steam installed anywhere so that doesn't work so great.

I think it's pretty much universally hated simply because of how invasive they made it. Valve needs to go back to UI Design 101 course. Step #1: Don't piss off users.
