Seriously, how lame can they get?

the "retrieve" link takes you to a non-steam website, "steam community" is spelled wrong, and why on earth would steam use Gmail >.<

Obvious for most but thanks for the heads up.

Now let me just deal with this email I got from techpowerup asking me to prove I'm a real person by giving my sort code and bank account number ...

i reported it as spam and phishing (it was in my spam folder when i got it, but it needs to be doublespammed) but even so, i know a few people dumb enough to fall for it - especially on inferior mail systems like hotmail or yahoo with poor spam detection

Untrue! My hotmail hardly lets anything spammish into the inbox.

and my friends hotmail doesnt let legit emails into his inbox :p

i went offtopic, my apologies - my point was that unless your email client picked up it was spammy, you'd likely think it was real if you werent phishing aware

As all phishing attempts go, this one seems pretty good to some of the ones i seen.

Also the thread title is misleading, maybe change it to "New steam phishing attempt" as steam aint really scamming anyone.

    Mussels says thanks.

Crappy attempt i think, the e-mail addy alone is a massive give away. Must work though for them to do it huh.

I never fall for such things. However, I am still awaiting my share of the Nigerian Minister of Communications assets, so I can buy tons of real Rolex watches for 50 bucks each.

The "Reactive My Account" sounds bad too.

    Should be "Re-Activate"
