Publisher Nacon and developer KT Racing will release Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown on PC, on Xbox and PlayStation consoles and for Nintendo Switch. That can be seen in a cinematic trailer. More details about the game will be announced in July.

The PC version will appear on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox and PlayStation versions will appear for current consoles as well as those from the previous generation. That is at the end of a new cinematic trailer, which shows atmospheric images but does not reveal any substantive details about the game.

However, the video makes it clear that Aston Martin and Land Rover brands have been incorporated into the video. At the end of the video is also 'next chapter, July 2021'. In a press release, publisher Nacon clarifies that more information about the game will be released that month. A release date has not yet been announced.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown was announced in July last year. Like the earlier parts, the open world racing game is on a 'luxury island'. The new part is made by KT Racing, known for the WRC rally games. At the time, the developer indicated that the 'DNA' of the old Test Drive Unlimited games has been retained, but that new game modes are being added to make the game more modern.

Yeah, I know of this one from much earlier, Steam had a page on it. Not a lot of hopes up, knowing previous Test Drive titles. We'll see I guess.

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
Will it crash every hour like the old one? Will you get banned from the support forum for reporting issues like the old one?
Will they ban and threaten legal action against the people who create the fix like the old one?

I only ask as I bought the old one and experienced these issues.

Well it seems like the gameplay will heavily rely on your "reputation" and that story around the casino nonsense, wearing suits and whatnot. I can already imagine kids dressing up in the game in lame ways.

Old school Test Drive games were all about driving TVRs around long tracks to good music. Shame they can't even get such a simple concept right anymore.

Ah those were the days. Atari patched TDU2 so many times to stop cheaters but it never worked. You could very easily swap in an old .EXE and hack in whatever cars you wanted. I actually helped a few players spawn in the cars that they requested because I was pretty good at it. That kind of cheating was pretty harmless and didn't result in any kind of griefing or other negative impacts on other players, so I didn't mind. Multiplayer was okay then but it doesn't interest me anymore.

The actual TDU2 game itself had the potential for greatness with big open maps and nice cars with decent graphics, but it suffered from god-awful handling physics and a lame story plot. Just being able to drift properly would have added so much entertainment value. The handling was by far TDU2's biggest letdown, the car would grip like it's on rails until it lets go and you crash uncontrollably into a tree, it was a total razor edge on the limit. By far the worst I've ever experienced.
