So in another thread I mentioned I had a old Gateway 2000 P5-100xl desktop that I was going to use to read some 5.25 floppy's. Well since that thread I have ordered some used parts to get her up and running again since it was stripped down to just the case and mobo.

So far my build looks like:

Socket 5 AT Mobo with pci & isa slots (cannot tell what brand it is) - (in my possession)

Pentium 1 133mhz CPU - (in my possession)

Creative Soundblaster AWE64 ct4380 isa sound card - (in my possession)

Creative Voodoo Banshee 3d 16mb ct6760 pci video card - (in my possession)

TEAC FD-55FR 5.25 floppy drive - (in my possession)

IDE 3.5 floppy drive (cant tell what brand it is) - (in my possession)

IDE CD-Rom drive (forgot what brand it is) - (in my possession)

-------------------------------------------------------------

I am currently looking at getting a AT PSU, some Ram (maybe 64mb if compatible),
A heatsink w/fan and a couple case fans. I will be running window 3.11

If you have vintage computer knowledge and see conflicts please feel free to let me know.
My first computer I bought was a Sony Vaio PCV-RX860 with a P4 2.4 so I don't know much
about old school computer components and compatibility. Thanks :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update!! So I got all the parts in and installed them on another computer I have
here with a celeron 366mhz processor. I wanted to make sure they worked because
the Pentium 1 system still needs a PSU, Ram and a heatsink for a socket 5 mobo.
So, while testing I saw that the mobo for the celeron had all the features I needed.
So I am going to keep this setup. I have a ensoniq sound card (isa) and ati
mach64 video card (pci) that came out of the celeron and are going into the P1.

Current machine specs.

ATX PSU (no name, forgot wattage. too lazy to open the case right now :) )

ATX AGP PCI Mobo (no name)

Celeron 366mhz

64mb Ram

PCI Creative 3dfx Voodoo Banshee 16mb Ram

ISA Creative Sound Blaster AWE 64

3com 56k Modem (lol)

Teac 5.25 Floppy

Samsung 3.5 Floppy

IDE Philips CD-R/RW

All drivers were a pain to get but got it all sorted out and running 100%.

got some pc100 here if you need that. In the middle of "upgrading" an old 733mhz celeron myself:rockout:

EDIT: I think its EDO though if my very foggy memory is remembering correctly now.

Awsome!! I have a celeron 366 too I didn't know which one out of the two I would keep
so I put the video card and sound card I ordered with the celeron setup and I'm thinking
of keeping it rather than the pentium 1. I still have to build the pentium system to sell it
to one of my friends who wants a vintage computer too though..
