NForce4 Forceware FW: Protect other interfaces?

Hallo all,

I have a ECS NForce4 A-939 mobo, and it has the NForce4 Forceware firewall on it (obviously...)

Heres the question: I know it does a fine job protecting the integrated gigabit port on the motherboard. What I don't know is if it protects other interfaces as well (USB networking, PCI Ethernet card).

I mussed up the integrated nic lately, so I had to put in a PCI card. And since my parents have a knack for hiding ethernet cables (the internet is bad!!! its full of scary people!!!), i installed the drivers for my router and i'm getting net off USB. not the fastest, but it works.

So...
ANyone have any experience with this? I haven't had any problems yet, but I don't want to wait around to find out.....

I dont use mine and have it disabled, I connect my LAN to my ADSL wireless modem/router which comes with hardware firewall, that coupled with software firewall does me and to add the LAN Firewall as well is likely asking for trouble as I have read that there can be conflicts and slowdowns with more than one hardware firewall protecting the same connection.

Ohhhh and I beleive it does not protect other connections, just the Lan but am not totally sure. According to the specs for my board it says "embedded Lan Firewall" so I would guess LAN only protection.

i'm currently running my router w/o hardware fw protection, and internet thru a PCI ethernet adapter. strangely, the fw firewall still pops up saying "blah blah blah is attempting to connect", but idk if its still protecting it.

i might look into disablign it and looking for a sw solution.

I can recommend the "Zone alarm" free addition, it is much better than my old Norton and McAffee, since installation I have had zero probs.
