Nickel Acrylic vs Copper Acetal

Would using full plated nickel, with an acrylic top be any better than full copper with an acetal top.

Generally I go acetal, but am curious if the nickel overall will perform better?

I don't think there will be any temp difference since they are both basicaly copper and one is just plated nickel. Plus you are using acrylic and acetal which I don't think matter at all.

I'm curious why they bothered with the nickel; it might be a pristine thing.

I think it's best to stick to the acetal for stability and safety.

I love the Nickel from a looks perspective, also i am a big fan of the acrylic top, love the look of the UV fluid flowing thru the blocks. I think that is prob why they did it, there are so many diferent opinions that choice and variety makes for a better product. I have used acrylic top's since the 6800 and also on my cpu blocks and others and i think as long as you take care of your products there isn't any problems that i have seen.

Plus I think the plating is so thin that the difference in heat xfer between nickel and copper doesn'teven come into play

I vote NO on any Acrylic parts in a water cooling loop. Acrylic is the worst material to use when there is danger of leaking.
Delrin or similar FTW!

The only problem with polyoxymethylene vs Acrylic is that the melting temperature is higher than that of the second. My heat gun cannot make the polyoxymethylene melt!

none of you all know the REAL reason WHY they do the nickle.

it has NOTHING to do with one is better than the other.

a small part of it is looks but thats not the big reason.

if you use koolance or any watercooling parts at all that are aluminum you DO NOT want to use copper at all. copper and aluminum ionize the water causing corrosion of the aluminum.

the copper blocks are great in any loop that has no aluminum.

the nickle plating acts as a barrier between the copper and the water so the corrosion never takes place... thus why they make nickle plated blocks.

you CAN use the nickle plated blocks in a loop with other copper and it will be fine. its only aluminum and copper that cant be in the same water loop.

I dont trust the acrylic ones any more,i have seen a few crack.I have gone for the ek 4850 copper/acetal block for my card.
