The upcoming Nintendo Switch Pro is rumored to launch in September or October according to a recent report which claimed production of the new device would begin in July. The Nintendo Switch Pro is expected to feature an upgraded 7" 1280x720 OLED screen with a new NVIDIA processor and graphics based on the Ada Lovelace architecture. Nintendo and its partners are confident in their supply chain and their ability to meet demand including the new NVIDIA SoC which may enable 4K video output when docked by utilizing DLSS technology. Nintendo plans to price the Switch Pro at the same 299 USD MSRP the original Nintendo Switch was launched for and may announce the device before E3 2021 which starts June 12th.

It will have DLSS. Or the switch 2 actual not the refresh. I'm still not sure if this is the switch 2 or just a refresh.
The switch 2 is supposedly be 4k 60FPS but on a TV only.

I only care about deck mode, have played few times in hand held mode, but why use it like that if it is possible to play on 4k 65° inch tv :D, while relaxing on sofa.

That's exactly what I do :) It does involve a 65 inch 4k TV, a sofa, a six pack on a table, 'breathing in the wild' with my switch :p Get it? :p

Well that is my dream with the sofa, six pack etc. Problem is not much time to do it. There's always something. Damn, how little is required to get what you need hehe :)
Never played Pokemon but my sister likes it. She's been through Zelda Breath of the wild 2 times already. 100% done and I played just like you 3-4 hours tops.

There are so many mysteries behind this.
Nintendo can't change the SoC while keeping compatibility with previous games. They will either use 2 SoCs in a docked-only console (a la Sony or GBA), or create some sort of monstrosity with Nvidia that supports both the old Maxwell Tegra X1, and whatever they want to use now.

ARMs are backwards compatible with each other, its no problem upgrading SoC and keeping compatiblity.

Pokemon, zelda BOTW, mario oddysey, rabids, supposedly an upcoming metroid prime game. Nintendo has been knocking it out of the park the last few years.

Bigger mystery to me is how they're going to stick to 299 with an upgraded screen/SoC, on a smaller process, rocking a current gen architecture.

They might be able to catch up to Sony by years end if they're able to check all those boxes and stay under 300 bucks.

ARM is not the issue, the GPU arch is. NVN is kinda low level.

Nvidia will handle all that for Nintendo. It's really quite a synergistic pairing, Nintendo and Nvidia...

Well it's still a 720p OLED screen, and OLED tech has gotten cheaper since the first switch launched. Same with whatever SoC they use (this is the really interesting part to me, since nvidia doesnt have any newer chips for consumer devices) it likely wont be a massively expensive powerhouse, rather a substantial upgrade over the first switch, which is using 5 year old hardare now.

I still hope this new one has a replaceable battery, that's my least favorite part about the switch, its lack of serviceability.

The original Switch has a replaceable battery as well...
You just pull off the back cover, the metal shield, swap the batteries, put it back together, and you're done. I've done it.

Nvidia has plenty of experience chopping their gpu's down, so I don't imagine that part is going to be the problem. The problem is getting a good supply. Even if its just 1 or 2 SMs, if its on 8 or 7nm, supply will not be great which means scalpers will rule the market again...
