So, can I reformat it now or is there something else you need to do after you get a BOOT DISK FAILURE and use an HDD diagnostic utility and find no errors?

boot disk failure means that your bios could not load/couldn't find your bootloader. this usually is a result of a corrupted bootloader. you can go onto the windows recovery counsle and type the command "fixboot" to repair the bootsector.

Well, I put the Windows disk in and it goes to Windows Setup and loads some files then it says...

    It is starting Windows...

Hey, Repair works...YEAH! Well, it is working on something anyway...it isn't fixed yet...

It says: The path or file specified is not valid.
    C:\>

    type fixboot at the prompt

also, fixmbr is also a good try if fixboot doesn't work.
