I can certainly understand everyone being upset that feel the game was promised one way and turned out to be a shell of what was claimed by the devs but for someone like me who did not follow this game at all, well I'm quite happy with it. I guess I didn't have any expectations to begin with.

Related to this reddit post, the devs never promised ship classes etc. It was purely marketed as a single player exploration game with multiplayer elements of unknown sort (well now we know...). People have to stop bitching about this game's lack of... game. Only the performance issues are a valid complaint here.

On the other hand, in its current form, I would value that game at 20$ tops. Its a fun, simplistic indie game, nothing more. Nobody was forced to buy a AAA priced 60$ title from a small indie studio.

Personally i was REALLY disappointed about the lack of "real" variation in their procedural code. There should have been planets that cant you can't visit cause they are liquid gas etc and every planet that actually supports life should have varried climates/areas like our earth. 90% of the planets looks like asteroids or moons with gravity. As others have said, once you land on a planet, you instantly have seen 99% of what it has to offer. There should also be some improvements for the UI and the description codes of the galaxies before warping should be clearer as to what to expect when you arrive.

Apart from that, I find that they delivered the game they wanted but had a stupid QA team (performance and UI proves it).

Late to the party no doubt, but an update non the less.

taken from the link>
"Hello Games founder Sean Murray says a big No Man's Sky patch is now in testing, but if you don't want to wait, you can grab it right now through the game's Experimental branch on Steam.

The Experimental branch post on Steam was updated earlier today with a list of changes including support for AMD Phenom CPUs, improved and adjustable mouse smoothing, support for Radeon 6000-series GPUs (which don't fully support OpenGL 4.5), better alt-tabbing, shader caching, proper FPS capping, overall performance improvements, particularly on CPUs with eight threads. And while not all the reactions to Murray's promise on Twitter have been pleasant or sincere, we've given the new build some preliminary play and found that it has improved frame rate stuttering, and fixed the alt-tab bug.

To access the experimental build, right-click the No Man's Sky listing in your Steam library, select Properties, hit the Betas tab, and then the dropdown menu to select the branch. The code to get in is 3xperimental, and Hello Games asks players who have their issues fixed by this branch to please let them know."

I played yesterday for about 3 hours and with everything maxed out graphic wise and I got no annoying FPS drops. I did encounter crashing with alt+tab and it lost a lot of progress because I didn't know how to save. The game is interesting but SOOOO not finished with what they promised.

I didn't read any of the hype for NMS, but the idea of the game really intrigued me so I got it.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed.

I've only played 2 hrs and I have already lost interest. It doesn't feel like there is much really to do apart from fly (crappy mechanics), mine and try to acquire money/new ships/better equipment.

I feel it's sorely needing a minecraft/FO4 style mod whereby one can build bases, trade with other planets or run a colony. As it is now, it's simply too repetitive with very little real content to spend more time on :(

I'm loving this game so far. I'm about 20 or so hours in. Occasional stutter, but all settings maxed (except AA (x2 through driver and shadows are on medium) at 1440p. I'm using driver 16.7.3 still. I'm not a person who needs 60fps all the time. I fluctuate between about 38-77fps most of the time. Only crashed twice (both on start up). This game is very niche. As stated before, if you're not into serious grinding and exploration, then this isn't the game for you. I'm only in my 2nd system.

I got an email from Greenman saying that it is 15% off for a limited time...I would think you could use their normal 20% coupon on top of that.

Yeah how dare people ask for the things developers promised.

There is a difference between our own interpretation of a trailer or a cherry-pick from the full context of a review, and actual promises. The game is what it wanted to be and does what it should do quite well. It can use a few layers of complexity with regards to factions and reputation or the way things are procedurally generated, but none of that was actually *promised* - it was the interpretation of people who saw a few trailers.

Judging the game for what it is and wants to be, it does that very well. Reddit posters and youtubers are very good at creating their own parallel universe in which everything in the world is a lie and they are very much right in everything. Meanwhile the normal world just plays the game and a lot of people like it.

Those who went into NMS thinking it's a Freelancer clone/killer with multiplayer, will be sorely disappointed, I agree, but NMS never was going to be that product.

Except for the fact that everything pointed out had sources and the lead developer(s) him/themselves said that most of those features were/would be in the game.

But keep being an apologist for lazy developers who want to continue shafting people of features they were expecting and paid for. Worked for Kickstarter and early access right, that's why most of those games are such big successes. But hey, at least they openly tell you they're in alpha/beta and don't release a game with half the features missing.

A few seconds of trailer material is a source now? That will really hold up in a court case dont you reckon? The only definitive source is Sean Murrays own words on the interview where he hinted at multiplayer and thats was obviously wrong. But up until that ONE interview statement, the game was always based on SP exploration. To boot, the statement was explicitly corrected by the man himself only days later.

Marketing material is not a source, its marketing. And trailers have literally never showed actual in game footage, but heavily edited stuff. Hence: nothing different from the promotion around the vast majority of all products. If all of this is new to you... Welcome to capitalism

Court case? Lmao. Keep reaching buddy. If you actually bothered to look at the link, these were straight from the developer's mouth.

No point in wasting breath; keep drinking the kool-aid, people like you are the reason developers have no problem overpromising and underdelivering because there will always be apologists who will back them up.

It will be. At least in my case, most of the planets are pretty different, from dead rocks with no flora/fauna to fekin beautiful planets as where I'am now. Sometimes i do get bored in one place, yet i stay there until i discover it to 100% and then i find some really really nice planet, with oxygen and loads of friendly animals :) If you simply stop playing this game as soon as you feel bored, you will lose the feeling of happiness when you discover something nice. It has good few surprises for us.

Yeah this is true. I've been to a handful of planets between two systems and every one I've been to so far were different in some ways. Buildings and ships have been different from one system to another but planets in the same system have identical buildings and sites. Atmospheric changes and colors make each world just different enough. I dunno... it all seems pretty cool to me. Sure more variety would be nice but I bet we will see things changed and added to this game via patches going forward. I think I will just enjoy myself and look forward to what the future holds for this game.

The Devs might not have provided what was promised but there is nothing to stop them from adding some of those promises back into the game over time. Let us just hope it is not in the form of paid DLC! lol

I didn't really follow what the devs said. I'm enjoying the game still. If the game isn't for you, fine. Don't buy it and don't play it. Keep reading Reddit posts from over dramatic teenagers. I'll just keep drinking this coffee that I got from some guy at a coffee shop that looked like a literal dirty hippie version of that main developer, Shawn guy.

Great mod : http://nomansskymods.com/mods/internal-resolution-multipliers-pak/

You can change the game renderer to match your native resolution so there will be no upscaling (use the 1.0X file or the hardcoded file matching the intended resolution). I use the 1.25X and the game does look better, no blurry images because lower rendering resolution.

And now that I have found this video....

....I can stop playing this grinding paradise :D

I was led to believe that one of the things they did in the patch was fix it internally? or plan on fixing- I may have imagined it tho. I know it has been brought up quite a bit. As for playing it. I have crossed 41 hours already and just got to my 3rd system so I have been pretty thorough with my travels thus far.
