You only need special mouse drivers to activate any special features on the mouse. Since it is wired, the mouse will work regardless with any OS that supports mouse input. Otherwise, you could not use the mouse in Safe Mode, in the BIOS Setup Menu, or even to install a OS on a new system.
Instead of asking ASUS tech support, I might suggest you ask folks on the
ASUS forum.
As far as hating W10, I suggest you get past that. W7 is quickly going the way of the dinosaur and XP. Running into hardware and software support and compatibility issues with W7 is only going to get worse as time moves on because hardware makers and software developers have little to no incentive to expend valuable resources to ensure compatibility with a legacy, 10 year old, superseded and obsolete OS.
Remember, it is easy to make W10 look and feel like W7. W10 is more secure. Privacy and security are not the same thing and besides, it is now easy to control your privacy settings anyway - not to mention Google, Facebook, your ISP and most significantly your cell phone carrier are who you need to worry about when it comes to privacy, not Microsoft. Other reports of problems with W10 (notably Windows Update issues) tend to be greatly over-exaggerated by the Windows and Microsoft bashers, and uninformed lemmings.
