Maybe something is wrong with me, but I cant tell what is going on. It just looks like a lot of stuff happening at once and too much for me to process. Guys everywhere of all types (The UN of monsters) and some are shooting at others or each other, and then you grapple then punch them and they explode. City is filled with broken buildings and buildings of fleshy mess, etc.

I'm scared.

Doom 2016 was actually pretty good. Really good in fact. What I think is that new one won't be as good. I don't know why, but highly thematic installations are so cool. System Shock 2 for its Von Braun and Rickenbacker spaceships, Dead Space 1 and 2 for Ishimura and Titan Station, Alien:Isolation for Sevastopol Station, Doom for Mars base, only super rare exception was Deus Ex. It was set on Earth, but they kept the level of fiction and immersion to such a high level it didn't bother me. Oh and Half-Life 1. Black Mesa base will be one of best experiences I've had in gaming. Still on Earth, but they executed it so well it's amazing. And I miss this. Usually it all ends up just being "some levels" on Earth, everything is too familiar. Just smearing some gore on it and make all destroyed just isn't "it". Rage did that really well with that infested hospital segment, but that was just a part of a game and it was great. But looking at entire game like that, I don't know...

So, for me it's a mixed expectation. I liked Doom 2016, but I'm not sure I'm gonna like the setup the game will be happening in...

This kind of spastic movement (also from Unreal) is how I used to daydream action sequences in highschool. It's not like typical shooters (or the last Doom).

Have to agree with you there on the settings/environments. So many games today just fill everything up with generic nonsense and it becomes so easy to spot the same elements of level design that way. Its like pop music: there's this strict formula it has to stick to, because god forbid developers actually got creative and act like 'artists' instead of bland product developers...

I can't remember a single memorable game with generic environments... Well... maybe Darkest Dungeon. As far as you can even speak of level design on that one.

So what, Call of Duty is absolutely worthless franchise because Activision releases a new game of the series every year? What about battlefield series that releases every two years (with even smaller intervals sometimes)?

This looks fairly normal to me. By the end of it's release year (2016), it sold 3.6 million. That's a modest success. I'm sure by now it might've hit 4 million.

For 2016, compared Mankind Divided.. a solid game.. but bombed. It hasn't broken 2 million sales afaik and Square is putting the series on a hold. That's an actual failure, unfortunately.

It was not a mess. Which is why it sold well and reviews are good.
What did you expect from a FPS? It was fast paced, fun and optimized.

I have like 80 hours played in MP with KD of 5+. Tried MP a few months ago, and I got instant match. Not sure what you mean.
Also finished SP on hardest mode (permadeath).

Did you even complete it?

The game won several game awards. It was one of the best games I played back in 2016. I will play the new one too.

That was the whole point of DOOM 2016 - simple shooter unburdened by heavy/messy storyline or complex game mechanics. Just a simple shoot'em'all, spiced up with arcade elements (points, rune challenges etc). I loved it.
Even multiplayer is still alive, and there is no issues with finding matches. I used to hate MP during open beta, but over time it grew on me. Maps are good, gameplay is decent (though a bit "rubbery" for my taste), tons of game modes etc. Also, amongst the trash in snapmap workshop you can find occasional perls (like co-op horde maps, or even decent mini-campaigns).

5 million people disagree with your opinion (3.6M sales in 2016 alone!!!). 92% positive reviews, multiplayer that's still alive, and more people playing it than the entire Deus Ex series, or Tomb Raider, or both recent Middle Earth: Shadow of whatever games.

Not sure whattafuck are you talking about, cause I have no problems finding a multiplayer queue.
Just because you have issues or the game is not to your taste, does not automatically translate to "the game is shit and all of you are idiots".

Criticizing the game about non-existing problems is what bothers me right now.
MP matchmaking is a non-issue. Cheaters have disappeared with the hype and when the competitive scene died down. The game is still awesome, people are still playing it.
