I can't wait for this phone... Don't care for the smug sentence at the end of this article. This hasn't been confirmed so I'm hoping it comes to Verizon... I saw leaked pictures with Verizon branding.

A neighbor just showed me a Nokia cell he just got. I'm pretty sure it's the 928. He seems to think it has a 12mp cam, but the specs say 8.7.

I don't really get why the 1520 would have a 21mp cam when the 1020 has a 41mp.

Probably because they realized the 41mp cam is worthless. The picture gets down scaled by software right when the picture gets stored anyways.

Not to mention 41mp is kind of stupid on any day to day camera really, since the pixels are so damn small, they do not harvest enough light to make the picture look any better then say a 20mp camera.

specs say 8.7, but it the actual sensors are larger. for eg. my specs say its a 5mp but even if i "digital" zoom all the way to 4x, my pics are still in 5mp res, though the pixels are more visible.
nokia uses an algorithm to get the average out of 3 pixels to get one pixed, this reduces noise and lets me take pics like these.

its a hibiscus.... 50mm in dia..

mines a nokia c6-00, an old symbian based 200$ business phone :D

the 41mp camera isn't stupid or wasted, they use it to make a very low-noise / very sharp lower megapixel picture. Also, you can still save the full megapixel picture instead of the lower one, or even both high and low megapixel file after each shot you took.

While this site is dutch, I dare you say the sensor on the 1020 doesn't add anything beneficial.

Furthermore, it also allows you to digitally zoom a lot without losing a lot of detail(they claim its lossless, which ofc it isn't since that would make the downscaling redundant, but still).

So tempted by these phones, I bought a 925 for the wife and it's soo good! And I think with the XBone coming out soon there'll be a lot of cross interfacing/platform sharing!

But I'm an Android, I wonder if I can have both!? Confuzzled!

EDIT - and they look terrible in that kindergarten plastic that they use! Very annoying...

The 3400mAh battery sure is nice, they're going to need it if the Windows phones still drain as much battery in idle as they did with my old Lumia 800, I'd charge it ~2-3 times a day until the Micro-USB on the device broke. Nokia wouldn't RMA their design flaw and it's now collecting dust.

personally i dont trust much bout phone cam, bigger mega pixels cant get connected to better picture quality
and so far just few phones with really good camera
most phone cam bad when low light, fast capture and color reproduction. its just fine just take a pic not for serious things

The HTC One comes pretty close, and Lumias (I forget the numbers) aren't that far behind, in fact they are equals in some respect.

What I would want is this (still my all time favourite smartphone), but new. You could probably fit it with decent optics these days and a grand battery. If only. :(

the newer windows version has fixed it, my friend with the 710 can do 4-5 days one a single charge. i assume there was something wrong with your device to begin with. and yes breaking stuff falls under physical damage. specially chargin ports as a lot of drunk people damage that when they try to plug it in at night.

the thing is all this doesnt matter. the people who have never used a nokia will never do, and those who do, will never go back. well most wont. to some people quality and longevity isnt that important.

Wow, beautiful Hibiscus shot de.das. I'm going to come right out and say I love flowers. Some guys don't want to say that. I see no big deal about it. They're nature's decorations.

Now if they could just make an affordable way to blow up shots like that and make wall art out of them, but if anything printer quality seems to be getting worse in the mainstream market, even HPs, which used to be very reliable.

I wasn't aware of Nokia's 3 into 1 pixel algorithm. Makes sense, and I'm not surprised they'd invest in such tech, because obviously there's a huge market for improving cell cam tech.

When I saw the specs on the 1020 I was immediately skeptical about light gathering, since the lens is pretty small, but obviously they've got that hurdle figured out. The things are getting rave reviews.

BTW, that same neighbor friend of mine just asked me to take him to the local REI, because that was the only store he could find the Tylt Vu in stock. It retails for $70 at REI, $100 on Tylt Vu's web site. It had been a while since I shopped at REI. I remembered just before they rung it up that he could get it on my membership and get the 10% dividend when they mailed it to me. I was shocked to find that I had a 20% coupon available still that I hadn't used, so he got it for only $56. He bought the bright yellow one, which I think was part of what lead him to get the 928 with bright yellow rubber case.

For those of you whom don't know, Tylt Vu is a sort of chair shaped wireless charger you can lay your phone on vertically or horizontally to view media while charging. It has a very powerful 3 coil charger that chargers pretty quickly. I joked and asked him when he laid his phone on it if his phone was having an orgasm. It sorta looks like a massage chair for your phone. LOL

Yep, Pretty much all Nokia phones are like that. Except for like the 820 or lower models.

I wouldn't mind getting this phone when it launches (Except for the fact it has a 6 inch screen. That's way to big for a phone) . a Quad Core Windows Phone would be sweet!

It is just another smartphone

I don't need a lot of stuff in regards to technology, but I want it. Additionally, I have a upgrade ready. Right now it's between the iPhone 5s and the Lumia 1520.

Nice configuration

It has a great configuration from the hardware, but we're more concerned about the UE and UI.
