A buddy called and is having problems with his new 320 gig PATA HDD.

He has a Soyo Dragon Kt400 MB with a VIA 8235. He is using this drive alone and is trying to install windows XP on it.

He said it will only allow him to format 137 gigs of the drive. I have seen this before but can't remember for the life of me how to work around it.

    Anyone have any idea's...

    Thanks

In the bios does he have the HD set to LBA or Large? This is what I had to do when I had my oldy but goldy DFI NFII Infinity board. He'll more than likely will have to reformat if he has to change that setting.

Tell him to get a copy of SP1, 2 , or 3 because Windows XP without a service pack only can read 137 GB.
