what is on power of a notebook motherboard if it is turned off?

would it be damaged if we change hdd and ram when powered off but battery not removed?

if its turned off at the mains then its fine, battery power wont effect it. however if you tried to change stuff while it was powered on then that would be just plain silly and you deserve to have your stuff break on you.

Usually I do remember to remove the battery. just forget this time,

I wonder is notebook motherboard working like PC motherboard? since PC motherboard would have power on usb and ram slots even if it is turned off.

that would depend on the model of laptop itself. Ive had some older ones that are able to charge mobile phones and mp3 players while powered off but those are few and far between.

when the laptop is shutdown & powered off, Its ALL off apart from the small trickle of voltage that keeps the clock in the bios ticking. make sure its powered down and not in sleep mode
