Nothing but BSODs, fresh Zen3 build.

So far i'm having nothing but BSODs with my first AMD build in 15 years.

What am i looking here, is the memory or the cpu?

Ryzen 7 5800X
Asus ROG Strix B550-E Gaming
HyperX Fury Black HX436C17FB3K4/32

Currently on BIOS 1401 and i also tried the new Beta 1602, which crashes as hard.

If the issue turns out to be the memory i will return it with a screenshot and log of Memtest, and get a G.Skill kit which is on the QVL list of my motherboard.

Default, just DOCP enabled for XMP.

A good idea, HyperX didn't do great for my last zen+ system either. Generally speaking G.SKILL probably have the best kits for AMD's lineup.

All systems do. To run odd CAS you have to disable GDM/PD which is a pita on AMD.

Second the memory being the most likely problem... as always.

Doesn't have to be on the QVL list just get a set with matched timings, like 14-14-14-14-XXXXX.

Tried that with 16-18-18-38 @ 3200 MHz, it still spits out the same errors.

After 4.5 hours i get the same errors as in the screenshot i posted.

I've had that kit working on 3 separate Ryzen builds no issue, QVL isn't the be all end all

You got one bad memory kit, not all are.

Well 1 sick errors out atleast, and another in the same slot doesn't, so the kit is going back to the store.

I followed the memory finder on the G-Skill site and bought, they were not on the motherboard QVC but G-Skill stated they tested and yup, they work fine.
Good price , great memory. I haven't been able to run 1 T in ages and not even timing either.
16-19-19-39-85 1T, 3600 speed memory running 3600. One click !

Same deal, the 4.5 hours MemTest86 run i did was at Optimized Defaults and only 2400 MHz.

It's just a crappy kit.

I ordered F4-3200C16D-32GTZN-G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd. and the old one is going RMA Refund.

New RAM arriving a day later.

I did manage to find 1 good ram stick out of the 4 from my HyperX kit.

But i still get BSODs with Optimized Defaults, i'm starting to wonder if my CPU is bad, broken memory controller? Or would MemTest86 atleast still throw errors then?

I did downgrade to AGESA 1.1.0.0 Patch B now though, a quick google said people have better results with that.

Managed to actually play a game for an hour so far without crashing on AGESA 1.1.0.0 Patch B.

Well nevermind.

I hope the G.Skill memory i get tomorrow is the solution, otherwise i will go back to Intel, i'm reading too many Ryzen horror stories on the internet.

Horror stories? I am one of the early adopters with Ryzen :laugh:

The first generation was the only generation which had major memory issues. Those were solved with newer AGESA versions

But I think Asus is the culprit of your issues. Can you try to downgrade to bios version 1004?

I may actually have a bad infinity fabric i been told, and that wouldn't be the first time, duds happen.

Since NOTHING works so far.

Tried 3 BIOS revisions now and on all of them the systems BSODs with the same WHEA error at even stock BIOS settings.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Bus/Interconnect Error
Processor APIC ID: 0 (this one changes)

Well new memory is the same deal, a whole lof of 0x00000124.

I'm going to wrap this chapter up after a week and a half, and build back my 4770K.

And never think about getting AMD ever again.

Did you even try bios version 1004?

Please post a screenshot of ZenTimings since it is very important to have the correct memory configuration. Too high auto voltages can also cause an instable system :laugh:

I found out my DDR4 sticks don’t like 1.4V but 1.35/1.368V(Auto) doesn’t cause instability.
