Performance difference seems little between 2070 and 2080 according to you @jabbadap, is actually less than between 1070 and 1070 ti, which I think will be otherwise, specially if it could exist a 2070 ti in the future.

Or did you mean the 2070?
Yup.
So here is the result added on tpus performance chart:
That is hypothetical. The real specs and performance numbers have yet to be released.

That is just the market - not 'power influences'. Demand is high so prices rise across the board. That has literally nothing to do with Turing or Trump's petty trade war.
That petty trade war has real consequences. Is it a coincidence the 20% tariff translated to a 20% jump in price this gen? It is coming to your cars soon too as suppliers are affected.

initial offering msrp price is a bit high, so maybe sales prices will come down $120.

I doubt that happens, even if it does, the 25% tariff is hitting computer parts harder than most other products, so most likely you need to add 25% to the $499 after October 1st when the tariffs take place (this won't effect stock already in the states I imagine) so we probably won't the 25% tax until december or so. All these cards are made in China right? you can thank Trump and Trump alone for the extra price.

Let these rot on the green guys.

Yup.

That is hypothetical. The real specs and performance numbers have yet to be released.
Only 14% difference for 200$ more? Highly doubt it, but we will see.

And yet all pre-orders are sold out. NVidia knows their audience. The 2070 will sell well. For those who can't or won't afford the 20x0 series, they'll just get a 10x0 for the dropping prices. It's a very good time to be in the market for a GPU.

And you know how many there were really sold. And why the Nvidia stocks fell by 6% since the announcement of the initial benchmarks. "It's a very good time to be in the market for a GPU. " LOL. RTX prices won't affect the previous gen prices with 100-150-600$ extra costing cards.

The performance of 2080 is only 14-20% better than 2070 beats 1080TI. the same memory rops as 2080 therefore performance ratio is more like GTX 760/680. So 2070 can sell at 600$ for real. That PCiE power better not be cable extender soldered on the short PCB like on 1060 FE. hilarious.

I don't get it if you are joking or not.

Have you seen the Reviews ? 2080 is 8% higer than 1080ti FE so no the 2070 will not be on pair with the 1080ti
Actually in most reviews, 2080FE is about 1-2% faster than a 1080Ti reference. And you know, 2080 FE are now clocked closer to AIBs than Pascal FEs. So if you check it clock-by-clock, 1080Ti should be faster than a 2080 by a low margin.

it not Trumps fault, its China. They have fleeced the US for years, the tariffs would never have been needed if China practiced fair trade, so feel free to continue to be ignorant and point finger where ever you want if it makes you feel better.

I think its shit that we have to pay 25% too because all expenses are passed on to the consumer. I can accept that without whining about it, can you?

600$ without taxes, means 600-650 Euros for those shitty cards in Europe. (optimistically)
Did nVidia just lose their minds??

What 14%? What actual, real-life benchmarks show this? Citation please
And you know how many there were really sold.
All of them? That's usually what "Sold Out" means.
And why the Nvidia stocks fell by 6% since the announcement of the initial benchmarks.
If you are going to quote numbers get them right, the number was just over 2% not 6%. And even that loss has been regained. The drop was a knee-jerk reaction, nothing more.
RTX prices won't affect the previous gen prices with 100-150-600$ extra costing cards.
How about the fact that those prices continue to drop? Hmm..

If GTX 2080 Ti can only do 1080p60 for RTRT, then GTX 2070 can only do... 720p60 for RTRT?

especially considering how the RTX 2070 is now being built in the TU106 silicon, a smaller counterpart to the full-fledged TU104, and in contrast to the previous GTX 1070, which was built from the top-of-the-line chip).
I just thought I would point out that the GTX 1070 was built on the GP104 chip, which was not the “top of the line”. That chip would be the GP102.

RTX 2070 is shaping up to be a very disappointing card. RTX 2080/2080 Ti numbers show that the 2070 is unlikely to beat the 1080 Ti (the GTX 1070 beat GTX 980 Ti despite being heavily cut down compared to the GTX 1080). At $599 the 2070 will only attract those falling for RTX marketing.

Perhaps NVIDIA wants to be able to sell an SKU between the 2070 and 2080, a possible for RTX 2070 Ti based on TU104.

Look at nvidia becoming the new Intel....rofl. Welcome to the quad core days of intel past. Christmas puns are coming early this year.
To be honest the only thing worth mention from nVgreedia release this year, it's the 2080Ti. The rest of the cards are just over priced junks... Yeah, you can say anot Intel eXtreme release, but with actual performance increase, not 4-5% Intel's style.

Except RTX cards actually perform decently and are able to overclock without requiring a nuclear reactor to power them.

Naah, the 2080 it's already 1080Ti levels, so the 2070 will be more like 5-6% better than the 1080. You'll see.

Nvidia come on I remember when 499 was the highest that money can buy a video card I was one of those that use to upgrade to every gen because also back them price was way better and DX requirements made me do it now its 1200 and DX11 can support DX12 and DX11 has been since GTX 400s so do not expect all of us just to upgrade anytime like before because prices are getting outrages its not like every one can burn 500 to 1200 for an RTX looks and for an extra 10fps to me if my gpu can play any game and no DX hardware lacks why upgrade so if you want us to upgrade give us a trade your old gpu and pay the difference.

Sorry mate. Reading that without any punctuation sign it's just like holding your breath under water. :)))))))

......just wait until they sell down their 10 series back stock and then they'll sprinkle in a little driver magic and these cards are gonna go super sayian green. Nvdia always have an angle. I believe this holiday season we will see stupidly low priced 10 series cards then then a bump in performance to the 20 series in the new year.

Yes it is a coincidence because these MSRPs are set regardless of that trade war. Whats not a coincidence is that we are looking at large dies and no competition. That is something we've seen coming from miles away and years ago, and this is the reality it provides. Pascal also had its price bumps. "Coincidentally" also without a competitor on half the product stack.

Well 2080 is 40% faster than 1080, despite not having 40% more cores, but only 15%.

2070 gets even bigger boost. 20% more cores than 1070. which bring is to 1080Ti level, i really wouldn't worry if it is +-5%

Ray tracing is definitely a killer app, but I'm happy to wait until when the horsepower and the games are actually there, i.e. the generation after Turing.

Exactly what I'll be doing. Never buy 1st generation of some fancy new tech as by the time it's fine tuned and widely adopted the 1st gen would not have the horsepower to run it.
