there are plenty of these things available on ebay at double the MRSP..

in my old fashioned book the price of something should be set at what the market will pay for it.. quite clearly something is wrong with the system or more interestingly why price something too low knowing that supply will not meet demand..

the ebay pricing seems to suggest that the old 2080ti price wasnt far out.. people seem to be willing to pay something similar on ebay..

Before AMD didn't have the money to compete, now they have better node, RDNA1 was already faster than equivalent Turing, and we know that they can build a bigger GPU, and finally Ampere is underwhelming given its poor performance uplift, so yeah chances are AMD will be up there even against the 3090.

No, it isn't. Demand is an economic principle talking about a customer's desire to purchase a good or service. Demand can be there regardless if supply is abundant or non-existent. I want an Xbox Series X... there are none. Does this mean there isn't a demand for it because there is no supply?

the £1400 quid i can actually buy one for on ebay or the "theoretical" MRSP 0f £700 -ish quid i cant buy one for..

i am lucky in the sense i am in no real rush to buy one so its all academic to me.. but its not for some..

First they want them out before AMD, then they are sitting on it for AMD... which is it guys, make up your mind.

We don't need to make up our mind because that's exactly the point. They got the chart toppers out there as fast as possible for the halo effect, then, for the mid range 3070 and lower which is going to make up the bulk of the sales are waiting for AMD. So they can, again, steal the show right before those come out.

Not slaves to commerce. Just pointing out Nvidia's ways. There is one reason why I do not buy Nvidia cards and that is because I can't trust them not to gimp or lessen my GPU performance without my permission on a product that I already own (GTS 450 SLI). Don't worry I am pissed at AMD too for not allowing us to OC the 5700 anymore to 5700XT and putting their own OC on the 5600XT. At the end of the day you would have thought that a Company like Nvidia (The leaders in the space) after the mining experience (and resurgence) and the last 8 months in PC period (but especially Gaming) would have the foresight to have studied the logistics of this product. This smells definitely like any corporate or street you have to have it product. What really pains me though is that even though they have reduced their stack in terms of pricing, (Probably Covid more than anything else) they still apply those machiavellian tactics in this time in space with Squadrons, Everspace 2, CP 2077, (Whatever killer Game they remaster next) out or on the horizon and Gaming platforms basically giving you Games to play or letting you play those Games for the cost of a Happy Meal. There is justice in the world though because for $500 you can get a 3700X and 6700XT (speculation) with everything running on VRAM and NVME storage (and Ray tracing) in the form of the Xbox1x and PS5 making a $700 GPU alone in the realm of true believers. We will see in this economy how long those GPUs remain at that price.

I played one Game at the time (Total War) which loves Multi GPU so you can imagine after I bought a 2nd 450 and was totally enjoying double the FPS until a driver update disabled SLI for the 450. That is not an accusation but a fact.

"on a product that I already own (GTS 450 SLI)" and TWWH is Multi GPU with SLI profiles. If I played a game using 2 cards and am getting 55 FPS and then the manufacturer decides to not support that without informing me and now I am getting 32 FPS how else am I supposed to look at that?

You don't use a long in the tooth tech, you wont have that issue. There's no reason to avoid them over an mGPU issue from a decade ago is an underlying point.

People bench competitively with many different drivers as some perform better than others in certain games or benchmarks. So for example, 420.xy does well in 3DMK, but 420.xz may do better in Superposition. etc..... that doesn't mean performance was nuked necessarily.

I get how it can shape an experience, but, holding on to it for a decade when you don't even use the technology today because it's dead (for all intents and purposes) is another thing. You're of course entitled to feel that way... as am I to think that's a bit fickle. I shouldn't be surprised as many seem to do that, as illogical as it seems to me.
