Nvidia Class action payouts. Anyone get theirs?

Ive been seeing posts online about folks getting payouts for their claims, and other folks getting rejection notices...apparently the First wave of payouts were mailed out a couple months back(while searching the matter i found a link to that angry little lady "linus'" site saying as much), and Im curious as to why i haven't gotten mine or if i will be getting mine. i was curious if anyone here may have gotten theirs,

"class action payouts take years sometimes" posts are not required, im fully aware, my question is if others have gotten either checks or rejections yet.

i have personally called the KCC law firm who handled this class action suit, and they told me NO checks have been mailed out yet, so im curious as to whether KCC is lying , or if people online are lying about getting checks....i see no reason why folks would lie about it, but i figured i know many people here, so if someone i was familiar with on TPU told me they got their check, or something, id be more willing to believe that it was KCC Law not being truthful.

If the law firm says no checks were sent out then no checks were sent out. NVIDIA has to transfer the money to a fund, the law firm has to recruit a company to disperse the funds (usually a rebate company that handles money all the time), then the checks are dispersed.

The settlement was ordered on December 7, 2016. It hasn't even been a year yet.

im aware of the facts, and the timeline.....the reason im asking, is it has been Posted fairly heavily that people have gotten payouts/communication rejections example....HERE

as well as about 100+ posts(7+ pages) regarding this matter....but they are mostly folks saying they havent gotten checks (post 213 shows proof of rejection or lack of sufficient proof letter) HERE

it just seemed fairly unlikely that ALL of those people would be lying...ofc they Could be which is why im asking here.... I tend not to trust what I read online so I rather just ask but I had to admit after reading it at several different locations it seemed a little less unlikely, basically just looking to clear it up

Ha Ha I forgot all about that money. Bought a 970 when they first came out.

I doubt I'll ever see that check. How much was it anyway? I can't remember.

After reading through the few forums that I found mention of payments being received ,it looks like it's only a very small amount of people claiming they have gotten something & there just posting it over and over ,if I had to guess Id now have to say that it looks like misinformation or trolling

I actually called the law firm yesterday and personally spoke to a human, who told me that absolutely no payments have been mailed ....out so I'm gonna Assume that they're telling the truth.

Now I kind a wish I had an account at that LinusTT forum, and hard forum so I could post and reply that whoever created that thread is bullshitting... because there is 7+ pages of people replying to that comment and I don't think any of them have taken the time to actually ask if payments have been mailed out themselves

Nvidia funds to Dispersment Legal Firm to Administer claims
Funds Pay legal firm to approve Claims ( good luck proving your case)
Legal firm has VESTED interest in disproving as many claims as possible
Unassigned /unclaimed funds >>> Not Returned to Nvidia ( cough cough held by legal Firm for claims Pending while leaching administration fee's till there is nothing left !!!). thats the predicted merry go Round

I agree they'll certainly take advantage of any possible loophole or miss information provided by the end-user ,which is why I went with the simplest method of verification which was S/N number from the back of each unit.

I figured there was the least amount of information that way, because with receipts and proof of purchase you always get those issues with proving you actually made the purchase or whatever problems they may create just to keep the money like you said there's no way they can dispute a chain of numbers ( hopefully )

I did my best to make it as simple as possible. I noticed some people were using device ID but that made me nervous, so I went with the S/N number

Holy crap... Stop the press. I got a check today from "Computershare/KCC: In re NVIDIA GTX Graphics Chip Litigation."

$30 check from Bank of America for my 970. Wonders never cease.

Just FYI there is a disclaimer in the body of the text, in tiny print that states "the enclosed check must be cashed by October 12, 2017; after that date, the check will be void and will not be reissued."

Man -how much do you think this fiasco will cost the big N when it's all over? 5 Million? 10 Million? 100 Million? More? Wonder what happened to the Engineer that thought it would be good to split off that last .5GB of VRAM. He probably works at McDonalds now.

$1.3 million was awarded for legal fees.
$1500 ($15,000) was awarded to 10 people named.
$500 ($7,000) was awarded to 14 people named.

How much the settlements with the public cost from there depends on how many people filed for a claim. NVIDIA owes whatever the total comes to directly to the "Class Counsel" whom pays out the award.

The final sum will likely show up in NVIDIA's quarterly report.

Long time lurker here... signed up to note that I received my 970 memory class action settlement today. The check was from KCC Class Action Services in Providence, RI. I'm on the opposite coast... surely more checks will be arriving to other class members soon.

They likely issue them in the order they were received.

Like I said, class action payments usually take a year.

Nah, according to Nv it was the marketing team's fault for reading the spec sheet wrong. The engineering team did what they could to salvage a broken down Maxwell chip and turn it into something useful. The 970 is just Nvidia's worst job at asymmetric VRAM ever

I feel the biggest win from this whole 970 shitstorm is that Pascal has nice, complete GPCs in it, with all their accompanying resources.

And now I'm going to bank the money and put it towards a new Vega. A little ironic.
