I would like to set a custom resolution for my monitor via nvidia control panel. I have searched some guides but they mostly refer to upscaling or other resolutions and means.

So I would greatly appreciate some tips. My a.t.m. monitor is 1680x1050 (16x10) and I would like to customize it to 1680x945 (16x9) with black bars.

Reason:

My favorite games BLUE REFLECTION and Atelier Lydie & Suelle ~The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings~ support 16x10 resolution and run it, but the MENUS and HUD only support 16x9. I can run them in fullscreen but then menus are stretched vertically. So it's either fullscreen with stretched menu or windowed in 1600x900. So I got the idea to just customize the my monitor via NVCP and put balck bars - letterbox (1680x945) in order to run the games in letterbox fullscreen.

Is that possible?

Thanks.

So just try the custom res and go from there. There literally is nothing to it.

Sure. In nvidia control panel

select "Change Resolution"

Select your normal (Native) resolution from the list (it should say 'Native' next to it) then click on "Customize".

A box should pop-up now click "Create Custom Resolution"

From here you can adjust the resolution as you see fit. After your done hit "Test" if it works you will be allowed to save it.

In which case it will show up in the resolution list.
