Acer's aren't designed so well - after a while they need cleaning & replacing the thermal compound (a good one, not some cheap toothpaste). Mine had a hot fermi (540M), temps went as high as 90C, started throttling. BTW, a 630M is a 540M or 550M :p Need to keep that guy off dust.

It is not uncommon for inexpensive laptops with discrete GPU's to have throttling issues. The laptop is inexpensive because the manufacturer didn't spend a lot of time or money designing it to dissipate the heat the CPU and GPU generate when running full throttle. The only thing the buyer can do is to immediately test the laptop after purchasing it and return it for a better engineered model if it does.
