NVIDIA is demonstrating spectacular next-generation DirectX 10 gaming content running on NVIDIA GeForce 8800 graphics processors at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. NVIDIA GeForce 8800 graphics processing units (GPUs) and NVIDIA nForce 680-series media and communications processors (MCPs) will demonstrate dozens of cutting edge PC games at the show including Microsoft's Games for Windows space in the Central Hall, Booth #7144, at CES.

"CES marks another milestone in the march to launch of Windows Vista and highlights NVIDIA's commitment to support this new operating system that leverages the processing power found in our GPUs," said Ned Finkle, vice president of strategic marketing at NVIDIA. "From low-priced mainstream GeForce solutions to those found in the ultimate gaming PCs being shown at CES, NVIDIA GPUs are found in a broad range of Vista-Ready PCs that offer consumers a new level of graphics performance and quality."

"NVIDIA GeForce GPUs truly demonstrate the stunning visuals and graphic effects made possible with the next generation of games and applications for Windows Vista and DirectX 10," said Kevin Unangst, director of global marketing for Games for Windows at Microsoft Corp. "NVIDIA's world-class support of DirectX 10, combined with mind-blowing games that will take advantage of this unprecedented power, will change the face of gaming on Windows forever."

"NVIDIA GeForce 8800 processors will help make Crysis an even more jaw-dropping experience," said Cevat Yerli, President of Crytek. "NVIDIA currently has the only shipping DirectX 10 hardware, and they also have a great program for working with developers. We're thrilled to work very closely with NVIDIA to make Crysis an immersive, exciting, and incredibly realistic game."

Yes you will need vista because M$ is forceing XP users to upgrade to get DX10.

The Nivida demo is just like everything else in the ATI vs Nivida war, one will release something with new and better feachers and the other will delveop something better and so on and so forth.

Yeah, I guess we can choose to ignore all the techinical paper's microsoft has made public explaining exactly why DX10 won't work on XP, and all the programmers that have gone over those papers and agreed with Microsoft, and just say it is Microsoft trying to make money by forcing users to upgrade to Vista to get DX10.

::raises his hand:: yeah, Im sick of all these reports on dx10. We knows its different and great. Quit telling us and make it affordable!!!!

It will be affordable in time, it isn't even out on the market yet really. Once it is in full swing upgrading to a DX10 system won't be that expensive.
