Hello people :),

i have some kind of problem with my GPU i noticed recently.
I downloaded furmark to run benchmark on my pc and check temp, fps, etc.
While performing test i noticed something weird, when GPU temp reaches (exactly) 73°C my fps are dropping and benchmark starts to run very choppy.

I get constant good FPS value during the benchmark but at 73°C it feels like my GPU is slowing down to prevent going over 73°C.
I've read on nvidia forum that gtx 280 cards can go way over 73°C and work fine so i guess temp is not the issue right ?:wtf:

My PC specs:

Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Nvidia GeForce Gigabyte GTX 280
AMD Phenom 9500 X4 2.2 GHz
3GB Samsung RAM memory (dual channel)
Motherboard: NVIDIA MCP61
PSU: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=29n6vjs&s=6

If there is any additional info i can provide just let me know.

PSU problem. Recommended 40A on the 12V rails while you have 32.

First, Furmark is putting your card under a stress that no other application will do so I wouldn't use it even for stability tests. If you have no problems in games and are on a tight budget you can still use that PSU but, since overall I don't think it's what you call a reliable PSU (I personally never heard of that brand and I bet it was cheap) and therefore might get you in trouble some time look for a Corsair TX650, SeaSonic S12II 620 or more budget friendly Corsair CX600.
