Those graphs just seem jacked up. Are they comparing relative performance & even if they are, why is the 3870x2 the same for all the GD games. The second one is totally fake as proven before but it makes the first one appear even more screwed. Even if the first one was true that would make the GTX 260 a much better option than the 280 any day, especially since its suppose to cost $200+ less.

Seeing how honest Nvidia's CEO is with the Journalists that meet him, I really doubt that stuff is really that badly jacked up. Sure it isnt exactly accurate but the graphs show where the performance should lie approximately. Thats the point. THEN AGAIN! Look at the scale that nvidia used for the graph. XS has just made it less bs.

The first graph is more believeable - it correlates with the "monster" that nvidia is talking about, the second... okay its just going with the moores law projection.

Its the same with FEAR. It & COD4 aren't as demanding as Crysis. I have a stock version of Crysis on my pc as well as a tweaked version. I can max out COD4 & nearly max out FEAR but VH in the stock Crysis kills my pc in seconds. Are they underestimating the performance for those 2 games cause those performance hits just seem too unbelievable

That graph is BS. XS made the graph start from 0 instead of 0.8 but the numbers for the 4870x2 are based on a 65% performance increase from the 3870x2 which is just projected BS

That's because that graph was made with the assumption that the 4870 X2 is 65% faster than the 3870 it's pure speculation at this point I'm afraid . Even for the GTX280

If the graph is accurate then it really doesn't show the GT200 as the monster as some boost it to be. If you take note to the Fear, UT3 and COD4 results they are far below the 1.8x mark they seem to be looking for. This IMO shows that results are a bit spotty and they expect folk to pay $600+??!! It also shows that the Cat drivers are for that card are doing a better job with the X2 for those titles. I'm sure some will and just ignore Fear, UT3 and COD4 results. But I have to question this do to it's price point and expected performance level. Remember these are all TWIMTBP titles so there is absolutely no excuse for those results.

In all it just seems that some of those results are over exaggerated do to the poor performance of the Cat drivers in the other games.

completely agree - and I've found them to be the most effective if you sit on them; it really gives you that feeling that's trying to be conveyed

the graph is showing the gt200's performance relative to the 3870x2 thus in crysis the gtx 280 is projected to be 80% (.8 times) faster than the 3870x2. the reason certain benchmarks show higher than others is because the more demanding games (like crysis) have more room for improvement. so if you were gettin 40 frams in crysis on the 3870x2 they're saying you'd be getting 72 frames with the gtx280. now in cod4 the 3870x2 already has high frames so the system run will definetly bottleneck a card that is supposed to be of that magnitude. all in all it could be bad drivers on the 3870x2, but this is the performance we'd expect of a real next gen.

Given the fact of the drivers used on the X2, the up and down performance in different games and the fact they kept X2 at 1x clearly suggests that the older drivers for the X2 (when those results were obtained) are having a more predominate effect on the GT200 performance level then what you suggest in any single game. Besides, almost all of them are TWIMTBP titles. We have to agree if they used a more recent Cat (were game performance was boosted) those results would be lower. Maybe not by much but they would be lower.

Also note how the GT200 also doesn't improve much in Unreal 3 engine title UT3.

Crysis uses Cryengine 2, which nv had boosted spending many hours working with
Oblivion uses Gamebryo. I still don't see this engine used in newer titles
COD4 uses COD4 engine
COH uses Essence 1.0 engine
Prey & ET:QW uses id Tech 4 (found in games like Doom, Quake 4, etc)
Fear uses the Lithtech: Jupiter EX (haven't seen this engine used since 2002 or so)
UT3: U3 engine
WiC uses Masstech Game Engine
