The 260 will handle any game now and in the near future at that resolution. If you are looking to eliminate bottleneck I would overclock your Cpu to maybe 3.0-3.2GHz and you should be set with outstanding performance.

A GTX260 handles everything I throw at it with my 1680x1050 resolution. You should be just fine as long as you overclock your processor a bit.

Benchmark Scores It does boot up? I think.
Of course not it will not bottleneck. Besides, if it did bottleneck it wouldn't matter anyways as everything (except Crysis) will run at crazy FPS at such a low res.

I don't see any reason why to buy a 260 if its not going to be used on a Monitor it was designed for (1600x1200+) Because for 1 at the resolution he is talking about everything runs the same as of FPS wise.

It would be more economical if he was to grab this.

It sounds like he has a 17-19" 5:4 Monitor which are only 1280x1024, if he isn't going to be running the card at anything higher than that, your not going to see any benefits as all the fastest cards tend to run at same FPS at that resolution. 1280x1024 was a tough resolution to run in the day but it's very common now.

What I'm saying is that eventually he will get a new monitor no reason not to get a card that will easily run at 1080p or the higher resolutions now. Instead of spending extra money later on a brand new card, he can spend the extra $40 and get performance he'll use for quite a while.

I'm not saying the GTS250 can't run at the higher resolution but the GTX260 is much better at it. I'd say it's worth the extra money to pick it up now.

i am thinking about getting a bigger monitor in a few months (maybe a 22 or 23 inch) so i should probably get the 260 right?

Indeed, the GTX260 will be a better bet especially at the resolution of the monitors you will be looking at.

Since you stated your getting a bigger Monitor then the 260 would benefit from it.
