Your right Calvary. Only in the Physx type games will you see that the system works. Like in UT3 you will feel that the game is smooth and not jumpy. Then while in Vantage, it works because of taking off the stress from the CPU in rendering. You will not see a difference in 3dmark series of benches, and any others.
Then, if you feel that it's still nothing to hmmm about, Guru3d does have the Physx tweaker that allows you to turn on and off that.

Anyone got this to work with graw2? in the physics settings the two physx options are grayed out. Is it like ut3 where I have to copy a file from physx folder and paste it in graw2 folder?

check the config file there should be a "physx=0" variable make sure it's set to 1.

well these drivers made my 8800gts more stable overclocking wise and added about 200 points to 3dmark06

hmm... even after uninstalling drivers, cleaning them and reinstalling, I still don't get any difference
and I saw that when you go to Nvidia control panel->System information->Components some people have two dll's under 3d settings, I have just 1 ...

I want to try something earlier than 177.41

What issue are you having exactly? It should work on your 9800GTX, it works just fine on mine.

as you can see, it says no physics processor is found and I get the same FPS in UT3 PhysX maps as before

I tried both 41 and 39... may be SP3 has to do something with it?

Also, compare my screenshot with this one:
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/332/17739ev2.jpg
It shows that there is another dll under 3d settings and version is different

It says no Ageia PhysX processor is found. You don't have an Ageia PhysX Processor, you have a GeForce PhysX processor. To get it to work in UT3 you have to copy a file over into the UT3 directory, the instructions are somewhere in this thread.

EDIT: it actually worked, I would not say that UT was playable at max, but fps became 3-4 times higher than it was before
here are the instructions i found on some other site

hey guys anyone know the answer to this because I just bought a EVGA 280 GTX to replace my malfunctioning 4870. Can the new 280 gtx be run off two 6 pin SLI power adapters with a jumper simulating a 8 cable, similar to the set up used on the AMD 2900 and 3800x2 series to get overdrive to work. I used this with no problem on my 3870x2 and 2900xt 1 gb ddr4. Will it work? The last two pins on the 8 pin are just supposed to be ground wires has anyone tried it? Also is there a 280 overclocking thread if so please post a link to it I cannot find one.

TRT, besides Rampage, you'll be the only one that has a GTX 280. So, there is no oc clocking thread. I was wanting to start one once I get mine. That should be the end next week if not beginning. I'll be sending it out it looks like tomorrow afternoon.
I can't help you on the power connector. There is threads with people running the cards at Xtreme, I think that's your best bet.

Yes, that power setup will work. The card can not tell the difference if you are using an adaptor, or the true thing. Ground is Ground.

As for an Overclocking thread, I don't think many people here have GT200 cards.

I decide to get it because it would seem cuda will help anyone with a dual core, during DVD encoding rendering etc. I wonder just how good it will be? Unfortunately my 4870 is having trouble.

Trt, you will also be able to do the set-up where you can have a lesser card run Cuda. I really don't know the details because I don't have a Sli board. But, I know xtreme has something a long the lines there also.. I was bored over at RM's one night and looked up everything GTX at Xtreme.
But, Like I said, I should get the card come mid next week along with my water in my case.. so I'll be able to, if you haven't started, a thread on ocing and questions. :toast: my man!

I have a ramage aswell but one of these should be plenty. The 280 gpu if you read about it is amazing. I'm not sure why Nvida doesn't tweak it into a CPU. It is flat out unreal. The 4870s gpu is very amazing aswell. Imagine 800 shaders processors helping your cpu. If only the 4870 gave off just a bit less heat.

OH, I know that feeling on the heat of the 4870. I can't wait to get my GTX. I just hope they can allow me to send it before I leave for a long weekend. I don't mind spending the money on overnighting it to EVGA.. I mean sh1t, I am getting it for free! lol..
I am going to be tring my striker II board once I get the card. I really don't think that the board is dead... Who knows.. lol

I'm having the same issue with my 8800GS. The 8800GTS and 8800GT(both G92) work, but no the 8800GS for some reason. I even pulled my 9800GTX from the machine where PhysX was working and replaced it with the 8800GS and the PhysX stopped working.

I'm sure there is a list of cards in the PhysX driver part of the setup that must limit what cards it will run on. If only we could find it.

You don't need an SLI board to use a second weaker card for PhysX. It will work on any board that has a second PCI-E x16 slot. My friend set his up with a 9800GTX and 8800GT in a x48 board.

Also, the GT200 is supposed to have a dedicated part of the GPU that does nothing but PhysX, so you don't need a second card with it.

Thank you on letting me know about the board. I know that the GTX 2xx series cards all ready have the PhysX system built in with the card. I was just pointing out that you could do that with those cards.
