Nvidia Reference 9800 GT 512MB - $50 Shipped ($ lowered again 6/18)

For sale here is a reference Nvidia 9800 GT 512MB

My friend bought a Dell XPS from BestBuy last year and upgraded to this card the day he bought it. Get this - He picks out a BFG 9800 GT 512MB card that was on the shelf in a retail box. He asks them to put it in and add it to the purchase. BestBuy put this reference Nvidia card in his system instead of the retail BFG he paid for! He didn't even get the box to his video card, pffft. I told him about it not being a BFG card when I replaced the thermal paste, he was pretty upset :shadedshu Plus, he didn't get the lifetime warranty and support from one of the best GPU add in card partners (RIP BFG, make good PSUs now). He paid for this and didn't get it - how can BestBuy do this?

This card does run hot - it idles around 60 C and gets in the 80s during load. It is a single slotter. I think if you put an aftermarket cooler and some better paste on this card it would help it tremendously.

My heatware - http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=67926

Asking Price - $60 $55 $50 shipped
Update - I am not looking for a trade. I am selling this card for a friend. Thanks for your good offers though ;~P

I will accept PayPal or USPS Money Order as payment.

There will be no warranty, but I guarantee the card works great and not DOA.
Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail w/ Delivery Confirmation.
I will ship same day if possible. (or the day I receive your USPS MO)

I bought ram from Ross not too long ago and was just as good of a deal as this is.. Knows how to pack and ship on time too.

Nice price! 60c idle on these cards are somewhat normal. At least on the ones Ive seen anyway.

I don't suppose you would want any trade action for this. Possibly a Corsair 750TX. I am currently looking for a Physx Card. Bump

Yeah I didn't even think to look either. Well he probably wouldn't do it then. Yeah I already have two 5850's in crossfire so I think to myself. How can I get even higher benchmarks.

Ahh Hah I got it. Get a Physx card for some Hybred Physx :)

But since he has the PSU I will probably post that offer to others. But there is one condition..... It has to be single slot.

Bump.

Those 9800GT single slots can play all games (ok maybe not Crysis) in full HD. I owned the older brother 8800GT and it kicked ass.

Its hard to see in the pics, but this card needs the 6pin plug, right?

When you replaced the TIM what did you use?

Yes, this card needs a 6 pin PCI-Express power connector.

I didn't put higher grade paste on the card when I replaced it. I used the paste that came with my Xigmatek Dark Knight. I had ran out of my good thermal paste at the time.

It definitely was good that I removed the stock paste as it was crusty and over done. It really helped temperatures.

Thanks for your interest.

His best bet is to take the card back to BB and demand his money back. If they wont do that, contact your state consumer protection department (different names in different states, under the state attorney general office) and get them involved. Actually, just threatening to do that will normally get a retailer to jump. He'll get more money that way.
