I can genuinely say, with no confidence mind you, that I think people that buy this for gaming are 'simple'. If you have that much money to purchase such things then I'd imagine you'd be a PC freak, in which case, you'd want to spend $3k on two titan blacks and a lovely custom water loop.

I'm pretty sure EK will make a block for it but still....

Given the number of 300+ HP cars on the road that people drive daily... well...

I think people are still under the impression that the "economy" is bad, or something. Paying $3k for a expansion card, simply reminds me of paying $385 USD for an 8 MB DIMM 20 years ago, and how buying three would cost over $1k.

If you want the latest in monitor tech, panels start @ roughly $50k. $3K for a card to drive them...seems pretty cheap.

Overclocking is dead(tm). The stand-in replacement is paying for performance, and since that provides income for future development to the industry, I can't fault it.

So, who needs to buy a motherboard? I got a stack near to my ceiling...

it is a Titan anyway. i think most people who buy it are usually like what erocker mentioned above or do something with it that makes more money than it costs while the others are really clueless of their purchase.
it is very amazing card indeed but it's really not my cup of tea. i wonder if nvidia is planning to release "gaming" version of this card with 6 GB total memory and less DP performance to counter the upcoming dual-chip hawaii...

We all know how well the Hyper-Car industry works. They can't keep up with demand.

The economy of scale is insurmountable.

Nvidia has been catering to, and developing, this audience for some time now, while retailers are selling AMD cards at near 150% retail to compensate for the value that AMD actually provides. What needs to happen is AMD needs to regulate their prices, like Nvidia does.


Otherwise, Nvidia releases another card that matches AMD's much cheaper card that delivers similar performance, and retailers push the prices high while laughing all the way to the bank.


The only company not doing their part in all of this is AMD, and they'll be the only loser here, not consumers.

I suppose with lack of performance increase on the same silicon over the last short while, all they could really do before maxwell (which probably won't be much more than 10-15%) was start sticky-taping GPU's to each other.

Still cheaper than the Quadro 6000K I bought recently. I could buy two of these and still be cheaper than a 6000K.
But 12GB of Vram is nice for heavy gpu computing.

With that K6000 you have full 12gb,

There probably some out there but most ITX cases don't fit 11in+ cards and only have 2 bracket supports then the side panel. Iffy with a 3 slot card.

You can water cool it and replace? the display bracket and it will have no problems fitting in some ITX case. Just a matter of where you going to fit the tubes and radiators.

Yes, as mentioned, most ITX cases don't even support triple slot cards anyways.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, dual GPU cards are a waste of money, be it AMD or Nvidia cards, and it seems the trend continues, 50% markup over a dual Titan Black SLI setup, for a card that for all intents and purposes is going to be slower than going for dual cards, I'm sorry but the buck has to stop somewhere, and I will not support Nvidia this time (or AMD's overpriced offers for that matter either).

To me it's a matter of principle, I can afford this card, but if people like me continue backing this stupid trend, the next single GPU Maxwell flagship card from Nvidia is gona be $1500 for one card, and AMD will laugh all the way to the bank raising their prices to boot, gentlemen, I say it's time we vote with our wallets.

And to be honest with you I don't think it even matter, this card is just a halo product, I have no doubt in my mind it will sell out in a matter of hours due to limited supply, and if you think about it, Universities and Colleges with low research budgets and people in the Film industry and Medical imaging industry must be salivating at the prospect of getting so much compute power at such low price, regardless of the lack of proper driver support or ECC memory.
