Meh, I'll believe it when I see it.

Power consumption wise we're looking at something like 380w total for the GTX590, assuming they lower the clocks to get power consumption down to somewhere around a GTX570 per core(which is really the only way I see this card being possible).

Is that even possible? An unlocked 580 hits 304w. I'd expect 400-420w norm, 500-550w without the limiter.

judging from this photo it is 2x8 pin which is a little bit ridiculous. i really hope this "leak" is nothing like how the card is going to turn out cause it looks like NV should supply its own powersupplies for just these cards.

i dont get any of your arguments on it's power requirments, you all seem to think this dual card which has gtx580 specs should have less power consumption than dual gtx560's. sorry but that's just plain dumb.

look at sli gtx 580 power then consider how much heat and space they will put out. if this card comes in under those numbers then I fail to see how an enthusiast would ignore it.

especially considering the fact that quad sli would be way more practical with dual gpu cards.

Some of you guys are acting like Nvidia can magically reduce power usage by slapping two GF110's on a single board. No matter what PCB layout the 590 uses, it is still two GTX 580 GPU's that require a certain amount of power. SLI 580's consume 390+W according to TPU's review, so if a 590 is two 580 GPU's.. the chances of it consuming 390W is a given. The numbers will be on par with SLI GTX 580 numbers and it will be one heck of a card to own. The best thing about the 590 is, it should cost less to own a 590, than it will to buy two 580's. I'm speculating nothing but positive from a 590 release, competition in every enthusiast aspect is needed.

I think people are well aware they can't, which is why this card seems so ridiculous. Everyone, likely amd included, assumed nvidia would never do a dual card with this architecture, even more so now after seeing the 580 use just as much power. It's just so impractical without a die shrink. But apparently all this time stuck against the wall at 40nm and the second place crown has driven them to say to hell with sanity. Nvidia doesn't like playing second fiddle.

And I highly doubt this will spur competition. AMD won't turn around and release a 6995. These cards are likely to be in different price brackets. There won't be a price war.

i'm not quite sure NVDIA can win over AMD on dual GPU race, i mean even HD 6950 CF spank GTX580 SLI on resolution higher than 1080P, and let face it, ppl who will buy will be using it for multimonitor config or higher than 1080p resolution. and gaming on 1080 or lower with this card is quite pointless, because GTX580 or HD 6970 can do it

Thanks to the SLI hack, pretty much any board can do SLI.

And the point is that if you aren't concidering dual-GTX580s or HD6970s, these cards won't be for you. They will consume too much power, and cost too much.
