The current silicon is almost maxed out already (68 out of 72 SMs are active). Enabling the remaining 4 SMs wouldn't yield much.
I have said it from the beginning, the very high price on the 2080Ti is just an indicator that it's really hard to manufacture so Nvidia doesn't want to sell many of them. It's just a "because we can" product. Plus, by comparison, it makes the other cards look like they're not that expensive. You know, it's how the triple whopper makes you feel like you're exercising restrain when you're eating a double whopper ;)
Of course it is hard to manufacture. Look at the die size of a 2080TI. Nonetheless the improvement can still be found there.

Not really. Have you noticed there no TU-100? That's because, as far as I have read, the TU-102 is at the limit of what can be physically built on 12nm.

The TU102 is a massive chip. 754 mm². I believe I've read that that is about the largest die size that can be fabbed right now at TSMC.

They are also working on a 7nm EUV chip at samsung, they have 0 reason to make their highest end higher and harder to pass with the next gen.

Seems logical to me.

Why launch a refresh of a card that does not have any type of competition?
Get more cash from customers? I'm sure there will be people that will buy it. Besides its performance might be better with ray tracing. There are many reasons.

Are you telling me it is not hard to manufacture? This chip is a giant. The yields are small which also boosts the price (at least that's one of the reasons). This means it is hard to get a working one. Yes i have noticed. NV can boost memory speed. This will be a boost and some application can benefit from this.

Well they still have the premium priced halo 2080ti so they can’t rock that boat or take attention away from it.

It is already the fastest card in the market by large margin. The biggest problem is not the performance, but the price.

I doubt very much that who has not given 1200€ for a 2080Ti so far, would give it now due to 10% more performance.

Space between Titan and 2080 Ti is so small that its pointless, beside that endgame high-end is something thats tough to sell even as it is.

Probably, but i still remember Titans situation and 1080TI. What i mean is we never know and then you get surprised.

I would have never payed that much for a card and yet people bought 2080Ti. You can't say that there's absolutely nobody that would buy 2080Ti super. If people were able to buy 2080Ti they would easily buy 2080ti Super. Well if it's released. What's the problem of selling 2080Ti and buying super version? I can't see why not. If you've spent $1200 for 2080Ti and 2080ti Super shows up for the same price I can bet somebody would buy it. I can even tell you more. That person would say it was worth to wait for 2080Ti super :)

I'm not saying that anyone would buy a 2080Ti Super, of course some people would buy, just like they buy the 2080Ti or other Super cards.

The problem here is that unlike the other RTX Super, there is no competition for this card and so Nvidia is not forced to make a refresh.

Whoever wants the best and does not mind paying, will always buy the 2080Ti, be it Super or not! There is no alternative and a supposed 2080Ti Super would not change anything!

The others who find it expensive, would still not buy, be it the normal version or the Super.

Oh well, guess I'll just stay in my holding pattern for Nvidia 3000 / Intel Xe and see what price / performance is like.

Not sure why this stupid question was even asked to begin with. The RTX 2080 Ti is just a "faulty" RTX GPU that has some cores disabled.

I never said it will change. My point was, if it's released, some people will buy it. That is my point of view to previous questions or statements. "NV will not release 2080TI super because no competition in that segment". People don't realize, that if AMD had a competing product for this segment and that prize, it would still be a lot of cash even if the competition would have been there. With or without competition, it doesn't mean the cards would sell better because the price is crap.
I don't think you get it truly. NV doesn't give a damn about the competition. The only thing that matters here is more sales. Ridiculous prise and yet people buy it.

with the green camp still dominating the GPU space, releasing the refined 2080Ti is not gonna change much.

I'm sure that's the same logic Intel used before Zen launched. Nvidia is fine to hold back it's cards and keep prices high, that doesn't mean AMD isn't biding it's time. If AMD extended Navi to the high end, it would certainly compete but I have to wonder if AMD is biding it's time to see if it can make Nvidia flinch first, much like they did with the 5000 series pricing.

Apples to oranges.
On the CPU front, AMD rehashed Bulldozer and everyone knew something new is incoming. On the GPU front we were told Vega is the next big thing. When that failed, we were told Vega was just a milestone and Navi is going to the the game changer. And now looking at Navi, it's no longer GCN, but it's just slightly above meh. Do you honestly believe AMD has yet another architecture up their sleeves? because I'm pretty sure RDNA will be with us for as long as GCN was. (Keep in mind AMD has lost GPU talent to Intel)

Umm, what? Keep in mind, the talent they lost was no talent at all and much of it was marketing, anyways. As for Navi, not sure how you can consider a GPU that can beat a 2070 Super and 2080 is meh. And these are just the "mid range" and as for Vega being the next great thing, the person who sold you on that now works for Intel, so, you where saying?

Oh, it beats 2070 Super and 2080 now: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-radeon-rx-5700-xt/28.html
How about they for the same $$$ which I was told is overpriced when Turing launched?
How about, one year after Turing, using 7nm they still gobble more power?

Take the time to check out the overclocks on the 5700 XT that are being obtained and you will then stay informed.
Why? Because you can't overclock Turing?

LOL! A card that cost $100 to $300 less, barely uses more than 35 watts additional when overclocked, against an overclocked 2070 and still beats it? Nothing meh about Navi in the real world, only in your mind. :)
