I have a quick question

My system is an
Asus b450m-a motherboard
16gb corsair vengence 3000
Athlon 3000g

I bought a nvme drive and it doesnt work and i have conflicting info from many different places
In the motherboard manual it says nvme will work with ryzen 2ndgen / ryzen with radeon vega graphics and ryzen 1st gen processors

However anyone else i speak to says it cant be used with say a 2400g because it has onboard graphics chip

Is this the case or will it work with a ryzen 2400g?

I need to know so i can decide on upgrade options

Thanks in advance

Dude, first of all, take a chill pill, no need for all caps, that's just rude.

Secondly, you have an Athlon, not a Ryzen CPU, as per your description and this is what the Asus says about those CPUs.

AMD Athlon™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics Processors :
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (SATA mode)*2

So no, NVMe drives will not work with that CPU, but they work fine with that board if you get a Ryzen CPU.

As for the 2400G, it should work just fine.

3rd/2nd/1st Gen AMD Ryzen™/ 2nd and 1st Gen AMD Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics :
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)*2

@PHIL13740 , please use better titles in the future that are more appropriate to what kind of help you need and specific to your topic. I have fixed this one. Also please refrain from using all CAPS as it is considered yelling online. Thanks!

Any Ryzen CPU will do, if all you want is make use of the NVMe drive. As for speed boost, depends what you're using now.
If you don't want to get a graphics card, any of the G models is what you want.

@PHIL13740 , welcome to TPU.

If you're going to buy another CPU, it sure would be nice if you could grab one of the $99 Ryzen 3 3100 or the $120 Ryzen 3 3300X, especially the 3300X, but that would mean that you'd have to buy a GPU as well and you might have to do a BIOS upgrade to support those CPU's.

3200G is quite cheap and for not much more the 3400G has even better graphics.
Both are suitable for 1080P gaming at low res.
