NZXT announced its new low-frills PC case, the Beta EVO. This ATX mid-tower has an all-black steel design, including its interiors. It has four 5.25" drive bays, a 90 degree turned hard drive cage that lets you slide in drives from the side. The PSU bay is located at the bottom, and has a detachable dust filter. The motherboard tray has a punchout behind the CPU area that lets easy handling of CPU coolers with back-plates/bolts. There is mounting room for six 120 mm fans (1 rear, 2 top, 1 front, 2 side). The top fan mounts support 140 mm fans. NZXT however, doesn't ship any fans with the case. There are two holes in the back for water-cooling tubing. The utility panel is located on the top, which includes USB, audio connectors. NZXT will make the product available for as low as US $50, which lets users load the case with fans of their choice, for as low as $10 added to it. The company will start shipping it this September.

For 50 buck I like it:) I think its a good idea to lower the price by eliminating all the stock fans because everyone replaces them anyways.

Don't generalise. I certainly dont replace my stock fans, and nor do the average enthusiasts or botique system users.

Wow... probably one of the first non coolermaster OEM NZXT cases I've seen.

I think they got the basics right, and it's cheap.

Now if only NZXT were readily available in SA.:shadedshu

Not a bad case. When this is available I may consider getting it to replace my ageing Chieftec case which weighs a ton! Looks very smart I have to say.

splendid. finally someone thought of making a nice case with no stock fans and with optimum air flow possibility. for that price I think it will be the n° 1 rival of the CM RC690 (which I think is at the same level as this one). hope they built it a little big stronger this time, I've read that the first Beta case had very thin steel... too thin

i hate seeing all these new cases, like the xig midguard, but them not being available yet lol. I'm lookin for one to replace my huge Apevia X-Jupiter case as it simply takes up more space than needed and is a pita to haul around everywhere. I'd much rather purchase this than the antec 300 ah but it isnt out yet :(

They should at least throw in some more filters. A set of 4 filters is what, like $3. 2 for the top, 1 for the back, and 1 for the front (which if it is like the original, it already has).

I'm glad they don't. I hate filters. They completely kill flow. I'd rather just open up the computer and dust it with a can of air once every few weeks.

Still no 3.5'' external drive bay? It's not that hard honestly... that's disappointing... =[ The case looks really good though, a huge pretty nice stepup from the original Beta with the addition of 2 top fan mounts.

filters for the exhaust fans? what for? :wtf:

I don't think that the users that are going to use this case need so badly an external 3,5" bay. u must remember that it'll cost only 50$ and I think that they've just done already too much for that price.

the internals remind me alot of the Xigmatek Midguard, same idea. 1 rear fan, 2 top, 1 front, 2 side. Though the midguard with a window only has 1 side spot for a fan :(, but it also has 2 vents on the other side so negative(i think its that, more exhale than intake) would i thk be good as it'll draw air from behind the mobo some maybe helping cool it some more. If it weren't for the fact i like the color scheme on the midguard i'd probly get this one. Midguard in wishlist :)

I also, like wile-e don't use filters....i'd rather have more air flow=cooler temps. dust is easy to clean out.

Why do you need filters for exhaust fans? That sounds as lame as air-conditioning the backyard.

oh. I was beaten to this.

Sorry, I was thinking about fans when I said that. I would still need 4 though. I would use the front, sides, and top fans all for intake. The one exhaust in the back.

Top fans are meant for exhaust, not intake. Hot air moves upwards.

True, but fans allow me to move hot air where I want it to move.

Actually I have done that once before, not sure why, but flipping the top fans on my friends old case help lower temps 3 to 6 C. I figured it had something to do with creating a funnel effect with the air paths, but I don't know. But I did have the PSU above the CPU in that setup to help with exhaust.

May not work here, so ignore my stupidity.

too much air intake... you are talking about 5 intake fans and only 1 exhaust... I don't think is a good idea. only if your intake fans have 500rpm and the exhaust fan has 5000rpm lol, maybe that way it will work

rpm doesn't allows mean more cfm :p, but negative airflow(exhaust>intake) i believe is supposed to provide better temps. The only draw back i've read about is that there is much more dust accumulation, but who cares? that's what duster is for :) quick 1-2min spray all around and your good to go for 3weeks-month.

Slightly negative, even, and slightly positive pressures perform about the same. At least with a nice and open case like a Stacker 830, as there's a lot of mesh for air to move thru. A more closed design might be different.

But putting 4 fans as intakes and only one exhaust is extreme positive pressure, which will just completely stall flow. You have to get the hot air out for fresh air to come in.

We are forgetting this case is vented in the back and on every front DVD screen not being used. It a bit overkill and a lot of positive pressure, but I think it will work with this case. I could be very very wrong. Only way to see is wait for the case and get one...I mean $50? Shit I will buy one for $50 as soon as it comes out. I was very very impressed with the original I build my roommates computer in. The Beta cases are far better cases than the low price tag allows for.
