OC 4.5GHz 1.28V vs 4.6GHz 1.31V

4.5 - the extra 100mhz will make little difference unless benchmarking.

That way you get a cpu that runs cooler and lasts longer

I say 4.6 the 1.31v is not a high vcore so as long as your temps are fine and as long as it's stable there's no reason not to imo anyway. My board is crap and can't take my 3570k past 4.3 without me upping the vcore crazy amounts but I guess that's what you get with a budget motherboard

4.6... because 1.31V is nowhere near the limit and why not. It will last until it's ovsolete at that voltage... the life of the processor certainly isn't a concern at this level.

Heat isn't an issue, at 4.6GHz running OCCT small data set it hits maximum 57c/60c.

I'd go with the 4.5Mhz. 100Mhz is not a large performance impact and 0.3v more is quite a boost in vcore. Did you give it a try to to kick the cpu's frequency higher than 4.6?

0.03 NOT 0.3 very big difference

The difference is 0.03V. I'd say the difference is irrelevant if you can squeeze out another 100MHz...

I meant he spec of the chip is max volts 1.52 - the consensus is that 1.45 is safe under great cooling and 1.40 is safe in general... if your TJmax is 100C before it starts to throttle, then I would go till I hit 85C on load and or one of those volt limits and then back off slightly.

Those voltages are really great if that chip is stable; which means you should be able to easily hit 4.8 within thermal limits.

Yes i did 4.7GHz but unfortunately this round i didn't get a good overclockable chip, for 4.7GHz i need 1.36V

Nope, 70c/72c but of course that's when running OCCT, while Gaming it wont never hit those temperatures.

Yeah now I see it looking again at the vcore. 0.03 not 0.3 as I stated earlier. In that case go for it.

it is a difference. but it is still below 1.4 so I guess it's not that bad.

You'll probably be able to hit 4.8/5ghz with that chip fairly easy and by your specs it will be under water soon as well so temps should be fine at those speeds, have fun tweaking :toast:

Well that's kinda a lot. If you are using watercooling then it shouldn't be a problem to sustain temps at reasonable margin but the vcore would still be a bit high.

I will OC to 4.7 to see voltages while gaming, games don't stress the cpu as OCCT does.
