ya there is someoen on this forum that has pictures that the HD 2900 Xt works with the 3870 X2 lol kinda weird i say. but hell w.e amd does they do it. hey can you explain to me why at the overclock event i went to the 9800GX2 sli lost to HIS superclocked crossfireX? they both hd 5.3ghz core quad extreems with 4 gb of ram running at 2000 mhz just diff video cards. the his superclock beat the shi outta the 9800 gx2 superclocked.... thats why i bought the his card.. and about to go with another one
The guy clocking the GX2 sucked. lol.
But seriously, what cooling were they using? I assume these were LN2 runs, or something like that. How does that in any way equate to gaming performance? Even in my sometimes delusional world, I understand that benchmarks mean nothing when it comes to real world gaming. Yes, the 3870X2's bench very well. They hold the 3DMark06 record, but then again, the GX2 holds the Vantage record. Anything goes in the extreme benchmark world. In real life gaming situations, using normal cooling method (like air, water, TEC) the GX2 wins, hands down. The gap gets even wider when you enable AA on both cards.
This is coming from a guy that's an ATI fan at heart. The last card I purchased was the 2900XT, and that was by choice. I could've bought an 8800GTX at the time, but didn't. It's not that I don't like ATI, it's just that they flat out lose this round.
