Sunnyvale, Calif.-July 23, 2007-OCZ Technology Group, a worldwide leader in innovative, ultra-high performance and high reliability memory, today expanded their memory lineup for AMD enthusiasts and power users with new high-density 8GB "Quad Kits." The new PC2-5400 Titanium 8GB (4x2GB) Quad Kits were designed exclusively for the AMD AM2 platform and are custom-tailored to the extended column address range of the AM2 memory controller. With a doubled page size, access penalties are reduced to ultimately improve system performance.

OCZ's newest Titanium AM2 Special kits are optimized to leverage AMD's sophisticated DDR2 platform for enhanced real world computing experience. With 11 column address bit support by the AM2 memory controller, the number of addresses in each row or page can be as high as 2048 individual entries for a page size of 16kbit. Unlike modules based on standard 10-bit column address chips with an "8k" page size, the new Titanium AM2 Special modules take advantage of the AM2 controller's feature set and provide a single rank solution with 2GB density using "16k" pages. This allows the controller to stay "in page" twice as long compared to standard memory architectures, thereby achieving unparalleled performance.
"In workstation environments using the full extent of 64-bit computing capabilities, an abundance of physical memory space is one of the most important factors contributing to efficient data processing," commented Dr. Michael Schuette, VP of Technology Development at OCZ Technology. "Complex CAD models or 3D rendering workloads drawing on massive multi-rendering capabilities of software and hardware define the new realism of technical tasks as well as of computer-generated images and digital content. In this fast-growing application environment, the lack of matched 8GB memory kits has been a huge void that is filled by the new OCZx4 kits constituting the world's first unbuffered, high performance memory kits."
Used on the AM2 platform, the architecture of these modules is particularly beneficial for extreme enthusiasts, gamers, and professionals whose systems demand large amounts of memory. Graphic designers, CAD engineers, and professionals in music and video editing will experience enhanced performance of their memory intense graphics applications such as CAD models, filters in Adobe Photoshop or video processing. The high-density memory offered by the Quad Kit offers is also ideal for Vista upgraders, and will maximize the performance of this graphics-intensive operating platform.
The PC2-5400 AM2 Special modules are optimized for 64-bit operating systems and are available in 8GB (4x2024MB) Quad Kits and 4GB (2x2048MB) dual channel kits. Each module is 100% hand-tested for quality assurance and compatibility and feature high quality, titanium-mirrored XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders for the most effective heat dissipation. As part of OCZ's line-up of premium memory, the AM2 Special series is backed by a Lifetime Warranty and industry-leading technical support for unparalleled peace of mind.

maybe not for the price they want, hell no. But if they are tailored for am2. That would make them super low latencies right? And who the hell would used 8gb of memory. wouldnt it be slow?
