Those are some of the biggest heatpipes I've seen. It that actually how the bottom of the heatsink is with the pipes making direct contact with the cpu? Might be good for taking heat straight from the cpu to the pipes.

direct contact seems to be a very good thing (if it also comes with a flat base of course :))

Apparently, one company come up with the direct heat pipe method and now everyone is following suit. They need to make the base smooth without any crevices or cracks and then it may help.

Yeah, don't like the looks of the base. Wonder how far you would have to go to lap it, and wether or not it would damage the Heatpipes?
