So lately my pc has been acting up.

First it started off with USB ports failing, all of them.
My pc was still running as in not frozen but all my USB devices were not operable.
I usually could get out of it by hitting my power button to shut of pc.

Now its getting worse. I'll shut it off that way and now it'll just black out (the monitors that is) while its still running.

I'm not getting any BSOD or errors of any kind to indicate a crash or that something is acting up.

So I decided to take my pc outside and clean it out. This seems to help. I'm writing this as we speak no hiccups been solid for about 8 hours now.

What could be causing this?

I'd like to note that I have a samsung SSD that has issues (formly patched by samsung but never really fixed hardware wise). NOw that my SSD is low on free space I'm wondering if its struggling to apply the halfassed patch by samsung. But I'm not sure if the issues I'm having are indicative of such an issue.

Another note is that my PSU is like from 2007 or 2009.

replace the Known bad hardware, and see if that stops the issue.

PSU - running a old PSU can be dangerous if it fails on you and more than jus it dies.

Yea I suppose you are right.
Those two should probably get replaced asap.

I guess after those replacements if it still occurs than it must be the MB right?

If the +5v rail is acting up, that could cause issues with USB. I would immediately assume that it's a PSU issue.

Yeah, the 5v rail is going to cause the USB and SSD to act up(since SSDs run on 5v).

I'd replace the PSU.

The SSD issue has been fixed by Samsung, assuming you are talking about the TLC issue. To stop the cell from degrading the drive periodically reads it and then re-writes it. It does this in the background, and the amount of space left on the drive has no affect on the drives ability to do this. This method is used I all TLC based SSDs now. There is no need to replace the drive if that is your only issue.

So I went and bought the Samsung 500 gigabyte SSD cuz I could use the space and the Corsair ax860 PSU. About to be home soon to test them out.
