So far this looks like an awesome midranger. Thank you for posting a thread IRA!

EDIT: The question being now can 8800GS's be flashed for SLi.

eVGA Announced the card April 24th, but still haven't put it up in their product section. I hate paper launches, not that this on is a big deal since you could just buy an 8800GS if you wanted one.

I hope so, since they are the exact same card all the way down to clock speeds, I don't see why not.

    Both the 8800GS and 9600GSO have 384MB, some Palit's 8800GS's came with 768MB and I assume they will also be a 768MB 9600GSO.

Ahhh so thats where the difference comes into play 768mb vs 384mb. May not be a go then.

    Are the GSO's 512-bit ram?

    Xfx 9600gso 580m

    Got a XFX 9600GSO 580M yesterday.
GPU 580 Mhz, MEM 700 Mhz, SHADER 1450 Mhz.
    Runs fine @ GPU 700, MEM 1000 --> 3Dmark06 = 10.519 @ 1280x1024 noAA, E2180@3000 Mhz.
Both GPU and MEM temperature monitoring.
Automatic, smooth fan control. Runs silent@2D.
Price around 90 Euros in Germany for retail package, Company Of Heroes was included.

    The card has 384MB.
GPU temperature peaks around 80° Celsius under 3D load.
At the moment there is only one 9600GSO model (PV-T96O-FDF4) available from XFX.

you should tweak the fan to hit 100% earlier, 80 degrees is technically fine, but not a temp i would be comfortable with in my box.

How does the 9600GSO compare against the 8800GT?

I thought the 8800GT was midrange?

9600GSO is just a rename of 8800GS and therefore exactly the same as 8800GS, using 192bit memoryinterface, 384 MB RAM, 96 stream processor units, G92-Chip.
    8800GT has 256bit, 512MB, 112 sp-units, G92-Chip.

    9600GSO is about 5 to 25 % slower than 8800GT (and about 30% cheaper than 8800GT).
So it is a fine card for the budget gamer, about twice the power of a 8600GTS.

Post results in the future !!!

It would be a nice thing to post here some results of the "newer" card and impressions(We all know the performance of the card via the 8800GS benchmarks but some "real-life" results would be useful for many).Of course I refer to those who will buy cause for now it's obvious that aren't owners of this little "beast".
