I hope bulldozer is a massive increase over nehalem, but it will probably only be a bit faster :/ maybe they will overclock better, though.

I agree I hope so too.

But to stay on on threads point .... Again if these benches are real. The only reason I can imagine why they would use an Intel CPU over AMD CPU would be to show the Cards real capability or to be testing Drivers with different Hardware.

Great point, something I've been asking ever since that link which states ATi plans on re-branding. Just does not make any sense at this time. I think ATI should just leave it alone and stick to the original naming. They already know they are going to rake in profit like there was no tomorrow

My gut feeling tells me Bulldozer is indeed going to be a massive leap over Nehalem. Intel will have to do something like a Nehalem 2 or something, there's a reason why AMD chose the name "Bulldozer". IMO Bulldozer is going to be A LOT faster than when AMD released "Hammer" in its time. Hammer made a big difference, though it wasn't super faster than Intel's offerings at that time. They remained quite competitive but not significantly faster than Intel's high end P4.

If AMD still had the older CEO running things, then I can see Bulldozer being a complete failure. But AMD’s current CEO is a lot more technology aggressive with massive amounts of CPU knowledge. I believe he’s made Bulldozer successful already, and it’s not even released yet. We can also thank him for the very successful ATI Evergreen series and the think fast Southern Islands GPU. AMD is finally in really GOOD Hands

yeah but whomever made that graph seems to think the gtx 490 will be comperable to the 6950/5970.

and really gtx468? serioulsy are they trying to confuse the crap out of consumers?

It might or might be even better. But the 6990(supposedly that's going to be the Dual GPU card) will dominate!

Personally, I'm happy with my new GTX 470, but I really can't wait to see the firepower that both of these companies come out with in the next couple/few months. And I'm still waiting to see the full GF100, that'll be a force to reckon with.

As far as I know the full GF100 isn't happening or it's going to be very limited. Not too long ago there was a review on it and performance gains were minimal while power consumption went up considerably. If Nvidia can get things switched over to 28nm then they may have something very good.

yea full gf100 with 512 shaders was only 5% faster then the gtx 480 so it wont happen maybe with 28nm they can bring on full 512shaders and up clocks which will give them a considerable performance boost across the board especially with reduced power consumption even better but thats a good year away for NVIDIA so for now AMD has the top spot in market share and is about to retake top performance parts from itself lol. Also hurry up ati release these damn cards so i can swap out.

True, but the same can be said about ATI's NI going to 28nm. Though I am not happy with all the names ATI plans on using according to the rumours if there's any truth to them. All I know as of late is Fermi already failed. Now let's see what NVIDIA will have to compete with ATI's temp release HD 6800 series.

Supposedly in direct competition with nvidia GTX 460 series. Barts isn't the high end of the 6000 series, but will probably be the first of this series to roll out of production.

Barts is the successor to Juniper in the mid-range segment, but performs so well that AMD has decided to give the mid-range chip higher status. Barts will be launched in two versions, Barts XT and Barts Pro. These cards will become Radeon HD 6870 and Radeon HD 6850 respectively. Radeon HD 6870 will be the first to come with a launch slated for late October. When Radeon HD 6850 will arrive hasn't been confirmed.

cypress xt 20 simds - barts xt 12 simds aka 60% of cypress
cypress xt 1600 shaders - barts xt 960 shaders aka 60% of cypress

keep the same memory, rop's, and core clock as the 5870

cypress xt - 20 simds - barts pro 10 simds aka 50% of cypress

also note barts pro comes to exactly 55% of cypress pro I just figured that the cypress xt comparison would be a bit more linear.

why do people keep saying that its going to be a rebadge? If the base concept os SI is correct that its evergreen shaders with NI schedulers etc (uncore for want of a better term) then it cant be a rebadge because its a new design

not sure on caymen but I'm going to go with "the numbers don't lie" on barts. Obviously caymen then would ahve to be something newer as barts is already using the cypress core.
