How cleanly Tom's hardware escaped the power consumption tests by saying their instrument broke.

Or what about Tom's clearly using AF in Crysis tests, forced through the driver, which can degrade performance by up to 10fps (Nvidia)? Enabling it through the config files achieves the same image quality without the performance hit.
I bet nearly ever review has skewed results because of this, not just Tom's Hardware.

I run 1920X1280 at 16af and 4aa and it does NOT hit 19fps.

Speaking of which, we still have a Zotac GTX 280 ad that says "fastest VGA in the World".

Are you sure? I play on my rig, @ 1680x1050 no AA or AF and hit 19FPS in first cut scene!

Speaking of which, we still have a Zotac GTX 280 ad that says "fastest VGA in the World".

Well if they change that to GPU, its still true. ;)

Or the 4870X2 drew so much power it broke the instrument!

I remember them showing pics of an instrument made by SeaSonic. Pretty reputed brand.

Yep my PSU is made by seasonic. Though I would have thought even power meters would have their limits.

Well obviously they will have high limits (not high enough to mar accuracy, not low enough to blow up when testing a R700 bed). Besides, the entire system ate ~380W, not the card alone.
